I raise you a hell yes!!!!!! Beautiful effort by the Avs. The trifecta tonight is complete. Now take care of business Nashville and the Blues take on the Jets in a mega first round matchup!!!
 
If the Preds win saturday it would be so huge on two fronts. Jets dropping the division and having to play probably the best team in hockey since the new year and 2.) the Stars would play a less than impressive Preds in round 1

It's crazy but I feel if we had beaten the Sens we probably would have somehow passed Oilers. The Oilers doing their late tank again. Last year they passed us by just a point in a shootout victory in their final game.
 
We would have to win out to pass EDM. They have the tiebreaker with more ROW.

Buffalo did a great job tonight.

It will be a very tough final two games against CBJ and PIT for us.

Hopefully DET and BUF pass or tie us. They both have more ROW if we lose out

Saturday evening, 9:35 PM.

Sabres-Red Wings goes to OT, giving both a point and passing the Rangers on the log. Rangers are down 2-1 against Pittsburgh with 20 seconds to go. Lias Andersson dumps the puck for a line-change and 2 seconds later, Brendan Smith gets called for a hook and Pittsburgh pulls their goalie on a delayed penalty. Crosby, Malkin, Kessel, Letang, Hornqvist and Zachary Aston-Reece are out there on the delayed call. Passing the puck around, and then back to Letang who misses the puck. The puck slides all the way to the other side of the ice, into the empty net. 2-2. Lias credited with the goal and Rangers finish 6th from the bottom instead of 4th.

Really getting annoyed at all the extra advertising that's being added to the broadcasts...

-Permanent ads on the digital scoreboard
-More digital ads added to the glass (used to just be behind the goals)
-And now we have to watch full video ads DURING the in-game broadcast...

Total crap...

The Sabres and Red Wings proceed to win the 1st and 2nd overall picks in the lottery. The Rangers drop to 7th. We draft the guy ranked #21 in pre-draft rankings. He goes on to play 16 NHL games recording 1 goal and 2 assists before moving on to the Swedish Elite League and KHL after a few uneventful years in the AHL. Hughes and Kakko are both inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in the 2040s.

There's a scenario where we get 3 points and pass them but yeah your point stands. Just would have liked to have crossed off that as a worst case option already.

Technically we would be 5th.

6th if we win in OT.

One of the other teams has to win their game.

One of Detroit/Buffalo will finish with 76 points, and we are last in ROWs. We lose the tiebreaker

Yep. We lose in regulation tonight and 5th is the lowest we finish unless we win against Pittsburgh...
