I'd mark down Callahan as a 25-30 goal 45-55 point winger, not really in Pominville's territory offensively.

Pominville is also not as physical as Callahan.

Pom's contract is probably good for Callahan's negotiations though. If he "only" gets $5.6M/year, Callahan shouldn't get more than ~$5M/year even factoring in age.

That would be my guess. Although Callahan is younger, so maybe he gets another year, the AAV should close to or lower.

Pominville has recorded .79 points per game. Callahan is at .56 points per game. Larry Brooks wrote Callahan will command $6.5M-$7M per in a 7 year contract as a free agent. Callahan will need to accept much less than that to remain in NY. Still waiting for offer sheet to McDonagh or Stepan which Larry kept writing about all summer.

If Pominville signed for what he just did, Callahan should receive less then that. Not by much but still. Pominville is the better player.

Also, Pominville gave that deal to a new team. Callahan wants to be a lifetime Ranger he should take fair value.

Really dont' want to see him hardball for an obscene amount like Clarkson.

Paying a player who has never hit 30 goals or 60 points 7 million a year until he is 36 years old would be considered an err in judgement by most people. I'd have to agree with you on that one.

Callahan had a poor 2012-13 season. He had shoulder issues, but so had Hagelin who still had a very good season.

He needs to show that 2012-13 was an off-year and get back to at least 2010-12 form if he wants $5M/year.

Those tend to end up being Callahan's stats, but he also always ends up sustaining one injury or another. He scores at a very consistent 30-30-60 pace.

That said, the difference between Cally and Pomminville is the difference between a 2nd liner and a 1st. Pure offensive talent

Did Chico really just say Pittsburgh fans are booing Jagr because he misled them about coming back to play for them? This guy's such an idiot.

Capitlawls already making an appearance. Fortunately for us it appears to be a seasonal appearance; this team simply isn't that good.

Caps make me chuckle, Calgary won't finish well but I said it before and I'll say it again but they have something to prove and will surprise a few teams this season.

Geez. What happened to the holtby that was in god mode when we faced him a couple years ago in the playoffs? Lol
