Apparently a lower-body injury for Clowe... (NHL Network ticker)

Also, Kadri took a shot/puck to the palm of his glove and immediately left the Sens/Leafs game.... No update yet.

Edit: Kadri is back for the 3rd period.

2nd Edit: Kadri left the game again.

What was NJ's record with/without Kovalchuk last year?

I don't want to hand count it, but IIRC it was night/day. I'm not sure they won even one game without him in the lineup.

Which was kind of surprising considering he was pretty bad (by his standards) last year, esp. 5v5.

But they'd rather convince the world that they really were just unlucky for ten games. Not sure I buy it

Wow you can tell it's the crybaby era of the NHL these days. Scott Stevens, who ****ed up dozens of careers, used to be shown as examples every analyst for how to deliver clean hits. Funny thing is, if Sauer wasn't a Ranger, or the Ranger had been Stu Bickell you wouldn't care at all.

I love hitting and I don't mind the big hits etc. But any hit that ends a players career or the player has problems just living a normal life shouldn't be in highlight clips or publicized by the league

I was flipping through the NHL talk board and came across a thread on the value of Ryan McDonut and many Gomez jokes were made which got me thinking. What exactly was the scouting report on McDonagh during the time of the trade? I don't think it's an easy thing to be able to remember what the general consensus was on a guy unknown to most. I know there are some ancient posters around here that can rejoice us all in a tale of McDonagh's value at the time of the trade

Better yet, can someone name a current defenseman or prospect McDonagh was comparable to at that time? Or maybe a "similar to _______" type of thing that they do at the draft.

I think everyone knows now that the NHL has a new rule in addition to the mandatory visors if you've played less than so many games in the NHL, they also penalize players for taking off their own helmets before a fight. So in the devils and islanders game they took each others helmets off before fighting:

Vintage Gabby. Did he score even one goal like that last year? Sure doesn't feel like it.

Well he had one against the Isles, but you get my point.

He didn't score games like that last year because there were no games in September.

The first one reminds me of when he scored against Boston. Same angle, same placement.

That goal was awesome!

The point of my post was that Gabby's shot was just off last year. He shot at almost half his career 5v5 shooting percentage. Short seasons can give strange results, but it looked like more than bad luck last year.
