That goal was awesome!

The point of my post was that Gabby's shot was just off last year. He shot at almost half his career 5v5 shooting percentage. Short seasons can give strange results, but it looked like more than bad luck last year.

The angle was impressive in the first post, but both goals were 'half-boards Gabby'. Start showing me examples of explosiveness with the puck and we can officially say he's back.

And not to harp, but his shot was still weak in both examples. Re-building shoulder strength takes awhile, but neither video show the zip his shots use to have (which was one of the main, if not biggest reason for his low shooting %).

I think everyone knows now that the NHL has a new rule in addition to the mandatory visors if you've played less than so many games in the NHL, they also penalize players for taking off their own helmets before a fight. So in the devils and islanders game they took each others helmets off before fighting:

great now watch them add a 10 misconduct if you do that... i wont be shocked if that gets added in.

Who gets the extra minor if a guy tucks another guys's jersey in during a fight? I mean WTF, they need to get a consistent method for suspensions before they tackle this nonsense. And why doesnt a guy with a visor get an extra 2 unless he takes his helmet off? I really think its good sportmanship when a visored player removes his helmet before a fight.

I was flipping through the NHL talk board and came across a thread on the value of Ryan McDonut and many Gomez jokes were made which got me thinking. What exactly was the scouting report on McDonagh during the time of the trade? I don't think it's an easy thing to be able to remember what the general consensus was on a guy unknown to most. I know there are some ancient posters around here that can rejoice us all in a tale of McDonagh's value at the time of the trade

Better yet, can someone name a current defenseman or prospect McDonagh was comparable to at that time? Or maybe a "similar to _______" type of thing that they do at the draft.

Read the comments at the end of this article. EVERYONE, Rangers and Habs fans included, was scratching their head at his inclusion in the deal because he was a high draft pick that was progressing very well. Everyone thought Sather would be lucky to get rid of Gomez' contract, let alone return any sort of real value in the trade.

In reference to your 2nd question, can you name a current defenseman that McDonagh is comparable to? I can't, really. He's a unique player.

I meant a player McDonagh was compared to back in the day  I changed my username so I'm not actually a random

You mean this goal? The one that had me incredibly excited that the Rangers finally had themselves a dominant first line? Really bummed that didn't work out.

Yep, that's the one. I thought that would be a dominant line.

Did i just see that Dubi had a 4 point game against the Pens?

I miss that left winger. Could use one of him.

Canucks Schordeder (sp) got injured after blocking a shot.. The Canucks shot blocking injuries start :help:

yea one of the few top 6 wingers with grit in his game.. Rangers can use more of that emotion on this team :help: this team is like Drury too passive :help:

On top of a 3pter against Carolina. Talk is he could be our #1 center between Gaborik and rookie Boone Jenner who is having a monstercamp/pre-season. Could be an over reaction but if its not him it will be Arty.

It will be weird watching Dubi-Arty for us and Brassard for the Rangers.
