The next CBA should include an obligation for draft eligible kids to tattoo a warning text in the forehead with some factual information on the risk of rushing kids. The warning text tattoo should be kept for the duration of the ELC, but maybe not slide it a kid gets pro experience outside the NHL. And it would certainly be just to have the money for the tattooee and cost for the laser operation to remove it come from the owners share of the HRR.

the league has set the bar this season. Not against the 20 games but they have to be consistent now albeit Wilson did have some history which I am sure played a big part.

Not really... 20 games is real sign that they are starting to take this stuff seriously, but it in no way sets a precedent. They heavily stipulated in the video that the reason behind the 20 was the quantity and frequency of previous suspensions. If 4 suspensions in a year = 20 games. First, second and third time offenders will get significantly less than 20 games.

I would have liked for them to not even mention the previous infractions and just been like: "This is not part of the game, and is an illegal check to the head. 20 games."

When they dole out that kind of punishment during the last week of the season or during the playoffs I'll give them full credit. 20 games is meaningful, but the timing is too.

Most players seemed to have gotten the message. This guy has not. There's a difference between playing hard and physical and being a thug. It's his 4th suspension in his last like 100 games played. Ridiculous.

I wouldn’t say this is the league finally planting their flag per se, they tend to give players a good amount of leeway before they get to this point. Ex: Raffi Torres, Matt Cooke

Yeah basically these guys will keep intentionally hurting other players as long as they can get away with it because their coaches will praise them for it and give them more icetime, and their GMs will give them more money. It's no accident that Wilson is constantly throwing questionable hits and has been suspended a lot lately. He has been playing over that line for awhile now because the consequences haven't been dire enough and all the "oops I didn't mean to hurt him" hits have 100% been attempts to hurt a guy and knock him out of the game.

Maybe 20 games will be enough to change his mindset but if his team keeps rewarding him for playing like that then probably not

I have never wished injury on a player but I say the following with zero remorse or regrets:

I will forever love the player that pretzels this punks knee or hits him such he has to eat pureed peas thru a straw for the rest of his natural life. It's disgusting that he has been allowed to do this at will since he came into the league.

f*** Tom Wilson.

Hope the Caps insured Wilson's contract...
He was all signing bonus this year, basically. So he earned $5m in signing bonus this year, already, and his NHL salary is $1.1m - this is less money than he'll be forfeiting because of his suspension.

Essentially, Tom Wilson will not receive a paycheck this season (well, besides the $5m he already earned. Chump change, tho, amirite)
