Torres at it again..http://www.nhl.com/ice/m_news.htm?id=670839 I wonder how Rangers fans would feel if he did this as a Ranger. Maybe that is why Sather paid more for Clowe.
Well that one puts this game away. Terrible play by Howard all around.
Goal was inevitable, Chicago is just a plain better puck possession team and both teams rely on that style elusively.

Hehe. Howard is the only reason the second period was scoreless.
Wings are getting wildly outshot. Howard is pretty much the line between hope and doom.
Yeah.
Wings got practically no help from their blueline in the Ozone. Very uncharacteristic.

Certainly in the last two periods. But the Wings had their chance in the first period to blow the game wide open and failed.
Wings were guilty early on being too fancy with the puck and deferring on prime scoring chances.
Still, this series is far from over. Chicago is showing me that they aren't very physical, and that bodes well for Detroit.
If the Wings can turn the series down to goaltending. They can win the series. But, they can't defer on prime scoring chances.
Definitely. Datsyuk had a clear lane to the net after a nice move and tried to force a pass. Also, that one play Edzo showed the replay of, I think it was Cleary, where he had a straight lane to Crawford 10 feet from the net and tried to pass back to the slot where his teammate was guarded by 2 Hawks. WTF! You gotta shoot that.

Don't think Chicago needs to play physical in this series. They never tuned it up physically this year, and why would you need to be hitting when you always have the puck.
Detroit was 29th in total hits.
Chicago was 30th in total hits.
This series like you said, comes down to goaltending if Wings have a chance. Howard will pretty much need to stand on his head IMO for Wings to have a chance. It will be finesse on finesse and Chicago easily comes out on top in that department.
Goaltending...and coaching. Babcock is a smarter coach than Quinville. Babcock can pull off some tricky schemes.
Lindberg could perhaps have an impact like Marcus Kruger early in his career. 20-30 pt 4th line C and super PKer.
I'm probably talking out my ass, but something about Detroit tells me that they just have another gear that they can pull out and beat this team.
Only Game 1.
