Hawks were 30th in NHL in hits ,, Wings were 29th

There will be very little physical play this series

Yeah, exactly my point. Thats how traditionally teams beat Babcock's Wings, through tiring them out physically.

Since they don't have to really worry about that, they can play their game. I said going in that this series can go either way.

Problem is the Wings game is not as good as it used to be

Hawks are what Wings were a few years ago ,, Puck Possession is not a game the Wings can beat the Hawks with

Hawks D is far better and our depth rolls ,,, Wings barely had puck for final 40 minutes of game

Wings got beat by Nashville last year due to terrible goaltending on their end and elite goaltending other. Otherwise, they outplayed Nashville significantly. The previous exits vs. San Jose was against a team equal in puck possession. I say the only time the Wings were physically abused in a series was when Pronger and the 07 Ducks pounded away at them. But that Ducks team was very special.

Just saw the highlights... Jesus Christ did the Hawks look scary. Even with Hank, that matchup would be a very tall order.

I remember San Jose pounding the hell out of Detroit in that series.

Nah, we can't beat the Hawks. Terrible matchup for Torts system. Hell, I don't think we can get past the pens for that matter(and their a more mediocre version of the Hawks).

I agree with this. Pens offense might be a bit better but Hawks D and Tending is worlds away from Pens.

So the verdict is that we are playing to generate extra money for Dolan?

Well, yeah. I guaranteed that we will never win a cup with Torts, so I aint going back on that(its probably close to a prison sentence at this point).

But ya never know. We can always get the right match ups and I can be proven wrong. So far thats been going our way(Well, at least this current round).

We could play San Jose in the finals.....uhhh...

Also, we have the x factor: Hank doing his best Patrick Roy impression.

You mean our X-Factor isn't that scrub on the fourth line?

Despite all the "Beaver is going to show" statements all year long by a handful of people, I do believe Beaver will show up in this series. The spotlight isn't on Richards anymore. Brassard and Stepan are leading the way with Boyle as a well suited 3.25th line center. Nash is the one under criticism and a microscope by the hockey world. Callahan is failing to produce. The expectations are on our top two defensemen as they're seen as the shut down duo that contained Ovechkin and Backstrom. The spotlight is on Henrik in what will probably turn into yet another showdown of the goaltenders. Dorsett, Pyatt, Asham has have a huge impact on our energy and board/grinding game and with offense as well.

The world is no longer revolving around Brad Richards.

The world continues to turn without Brad Richards.

The world has forgotten Brad Richards.

The pressure is gone. The tension is dissolved. The offense no longer relies on him. His minutes has dwindled. His linemates are $800,000 to $1.6M guys.

For all those reason, Richards will push harder than he's pushed himself all year long and with the extra rest the last few days, the limited minutes he's received, there's no better time for him to do something to help the team than now.

If it's a mental thing, I think he can just go out there and play now.
If it's a conditioning thing, his ice time and the quality of players he'll be up against playing the 4th line will certainly help.
If it's motivation, he's should find lots right now.

J, I commend you for believing in beaver, but the truth of the matter is, he's been done....long before these playoffs rolled around. The guy is a walking corpse. He literally stinks up the Ice every time he's out there, he has 0 defensive presence, he gives the puck away twice a shift with a blind drop pass, and then glides towards the bench to change like he's going to a funeral. The guy has 0 hustle, 0 motivation, nothing will help him. He's the new Erik Christensen to me, a guy that can wow you once in a while, and just be invisible out there every other shift. Richards has 0 left in the gas tank, he falls on most face-offs, gets out-muscled by the Derek Roy's, Brian Giontas, and Mike Ribeiro's of the hockey world....does that seem like a wise investment? I doubt he ever hits 70 points again

The other side of the coin ofcourse, is if we actually had a top 15 PP, he would produce much more, but he's not helping at all in the department either, he's literally a corpse with no jam, sandpaper, balls, whatever you wanna name it, he's missing it. The guy seems like he has no drive and passion anymore.

I hope this post was therapeutic. Seems like you have been holding that in for a while...

Ya know, Richards could be aging like a fine wine.

By fine wine I mean wine cooler...

Just want to point out Richie saved a sure goal in the first period of game 7 before we had scored. Who knows how the game would have played out if Washington had scored first.

Eric Staal and Alex Edler just went knee on knee. Elder thrown out of the game. But more importantly, Staal is writhing around the ice in pain at the WC. Unable to put any weight on his knee as he left the ice.

Raffi Torres is actually a damn good hockey player when he's not headshotting people left and right.

I'd love to have a player like him. Without the constant suspensions.

Wow I didn't even think it was that bad. Ovechkins charge on McDonagh was worse. Weber gets away with head smashing, Gryba 2 games for clean hockey hit. League is a joke.

I agree on the Ovie hit on McD...that had Major PM's written all over it . Imagine if he had of hit Cindy Crybaby what the outcome would have been for Ovie ? I still cannot believe he was not called on a Charging Penalty....UNBELIEVABLE !!!!! :shakehead

It's another strange ruling. Was Torres the guy that got far too many games for hitting Hossa in the playoff last year?
