Okay, but this can possibly be a short-sighted approach.

There are teams that can overacheive and underacheive in a given season. The Wild last year were the top team in the league by the end of the December, while having the worst possession ratings in the league at the team. They fell off a cliff later on in that season. No stat is perfect out there, but I feel this one is the most accurate to evaluate players and teams.

So all teams can overachieve except the Devils when they beat us since that was clearly not an outlier of a season. Got it.

Don't dodge the question. You just claimed that the Devils are/were a far better team than ours and, essentially, we were only better because we didn't have bad goaltending. Are you now going to explicitly contradict your prior statement(s)?

I didn't dodge anything. I didn't contradict anything. All you're doing is simply making something I never said and conveying it as if I said it. There is no point arguing.

So there's no point in arguing when you can't win the argument as I am using your exact beliefs to contradict what you are saying. I understand that. However, answer the question.

Or does fenclose only matter when you want it to matter?

The answer is yes but in a backhanded way

Having a better fenclose rating =/= trading entire roster

You make it extremely easy for everyone to infer things with some of what you post. Especially by just saying how terrible this team is compared to another team that's finished below us.

Yes, the Devils are a better team sans goaltending.

The Rangers aren't a terrible team lol. They are a playoff team that is a tier below the top teams.

lol @ advanced statistics in hockey. The other big 3 are understandable, but advanced statistics in hockey are terrible. It's too much of a free flowing game with so many variables. The only way to completely understand the dynamics of a game is to watch it in its entirety.

Yes, the Devils are a better team sans goaltending.

Finally. He spits out the ridiculous answer that he dared not say prior. It only took me what, four tries to get you to make that ludicrous claim?

So clearly we would win the Cup if we moved all of our fen**** roster players for the fenOMGAWESOME Devils squad. But how, pray tell, would we be able to score? You do know that scoring is important to win games, correct?

Now I'm just confused.

I thought the Rangers are a medicore 5-8 seed that will maybe win a round in the playoffs?

Correct. They were vastly outplayed in the Caps series in majority of games except for 1 leading to game 7. Lundqvist's historic series sv% obviously saved them. For some reason they flipped off the switch when the playoff started, it was quite miraculous they won the series vs. the Caps getting outplayed so often.

So now you've contradicted everything that you imply about this team.

Dudes, he's going to change his answer from post-to-post and poster-to-poster. What he tells me will be different than what he tells you and vice-versa.

We have officially come full circle and this is now all on display for everyone. I have accomplished my goal.

Advanced stats account for mostly shots on net. Teams with the better ratings are those that usually have a higher predictably of winning.

I would disagree with that post-Parise, and their FA's this year. Even with Schneider. Not a bad team, but I could see them missing the playoffs again. Maybe like the Kovalchuk/Lehtonen Thrashers.

We would certainly improve as a club based off of last season. There is no guarantee of a cup for any team in the league, too many variables involving injuries

I think that's a very appropriate comparison. A bit better than that trainwreck, but not worlds different.

I am so glad you're so attached to my posts. It's quite cute. No cameras tho.

Parise = Hossa. Some nice D prospects. Hedberg.

Yeah, I can see it. I think the Debbies are better, but it's not by much. They will struggle to make the playoffs. I'm really curious to see how Schneider holds up over a full season. He has been wildly inconsistent at times with the Nucks.

Nah, this has just been building up for a while with a nubmer of posters on this board. Pretty obvious with how many have been involved in this debate today with you. At least all of the circular stuff is out in the open, now.
