That is the plan, is it not? At what point did they acquire Schneider to play back up? It might be 70-30 SCH-BRO.

Idk, when they got CS, and NHLN did an interview with him, they asked what it would be like to be a backup again. I think they're expecting Fatty to play about 50 games or so. Does Devils management have the balls to put Fatso on the bench?

I don't think they will make anyone the starter. They'll let them fight it out. Brodeur isn't conceding, Schneider isn't going to deal with the same **** on the other side of the continent. It'll be 1 50-50 thing to start and one is going to ride to a 70-30 unless someone really ***** the bed and by all indications, Brodeur is in the more appropriate age range for ******** beds. Either way, I don't think they're going to start out with their "Next gen goalie" by sitting him 50 games.

That's what you would expect them to do. But with how important Fatty has been to them, who knows?

Personally, I hope that Marty ***** the bed, the Devils are afraid to do anything about it, and give up a top 5 pick next year. :D

I bet in the end, who ever replaced Schneider in VAN will give Luongo a run for his money in the early goings when Luongo is questioned for various reasons from the usual suspects that can't sit still for 12 minutes. In New Jersey, a battle will be waged between Martin "Marty's better" Brodeur and Cory 'The Next Brodeur" Schneider.

Two more goaltending situations! Goodie!

I wanted the Rangers to sign Jaocim Eriksson :(

Oh yes, I do enjoy these goalie circuses. More of those, please!

Gotta figure Marty is still the guy in NJ as long as he a) doesn't suck or b) get injured. Schneider will come in as the #2 but push Marty and be ready to take over if and when needed. Come next summer Fatso is gone and Schneider becomes the devils new #1.

that was so last week :sarcasm:

still cant believe

1- these crazy signings today... clowe, clarkson, v filp etc..
2- bobby ryan was traded for the package he was... easily wouldve traded DZ, 1st or along those lines..
3- anddd brad richards is still here... but w/e... like the small fa signings.. Asham, powe, and possibly pyatt will be packing their bags soon..

I think Brodeur starts out playing well next season and is reluctant to give time to Schneider. I will be stunned if Schneider gets more games than Brodeur. The best thing that can happen to the Devils is one of their goalies gets hurt.

Brodeur isn't bowing out gracefully. He doesn't think he's done. He's already sized up Schneider. Heck, he knows he's played more games in one season than Schneider has played in his entire career. He's not going to just give away his legacy to a back up goalie.

I fully respect Aflie's decision to leave to chase the Cup. I just don't understand -if the Cup is his motivation- his decision to go to Detroit. Good team, playoffs for sure, but I don't consider them a bonafide Cup favorite this year.

sens fans are gonna boo Alfie.

They will as they wipe away tears. I think Det- riot overpaid and if not for other stupid contracts might have been noticed more. As a barometer, im thinking naslund's 2 yr deal with NY at 3 mil. Adjusted for1 yr and inflation anf Alfie should have gotten 4-4.5 mil tops.

Still laughing that the Devils signed Clowe to that contract. Worst signing this offseason. He is not the player he was two years ago. 3 concussions in 1 year, and slow as **** to boot.

Glen should have pushed harder to trade his rights for a 6th rounder or something.

He went to a team that arguably isn't as good as Ottawa, or is at least comparable.

I think it would be looked at differently had he signed with Chicago or Boston for like 1 million.

What makes you think they wanted a defenseman? They got two forwards in the deal, and they already have a defenseman like DZ in Fowler.

63 pts per season for richards over last 6 seasons.

66 pts per season for Ribs over the last 6 seasons.

Someone said my math was sloppy ehe I said ribs had better numbers than richards.

Interesting

The fact that David Clarkson is making more than Ryan Callahan right now is a travesty. GMs are so ****ing stupid.

Wait until this offseason when Callahan gets a contract heading into FA as a UFA. Callahan's agent had little to no leverage in RFA contract, which he previously signed from. I suspect 6mil at the very least if he tests open market.

I think Detroit's being underrated a bit. Barring injuries, I think they'll win around 50 games.
