To be fair Lehtonen made a couple of incredible saves in the 1st period. The only goal was a gift by Petry who was watching the puck instead of his man.

Oh, the vaunted Petry. Edmonton fans try so hard to convince people he's a good defenseman...I don't understand it at all. Every time I see highlights or I see Edmonton play, I see Jeff Petry running around, making constant mistakes.

He would be a good 3rd pairing. Smid was the better Dman and they gave him up for peanuts .
If Smid is worth Brossoit, Petry + is worth MSC, another ex Oiler King.

I agree that he'd be solid in a 3rd pairing role. Maybe even in a second pairing role with a steady player (like Staal or McD). He's in WAYYYYYYY over his head on the Oilers, though. They play him like a #1 D. He's getting 22+ minutes a night. No wonder that team sucks.

He definitely is not. The guy I like is that Larsen kid, looked good on the PP, good RH shot from the point, has wheels but defensively he is below average.

Yeah, I've always been a fan of his, too. Thought he would be better than he currently is but he's still a decent bottom-pairing D.

I do, he definitely targeted the head. He makes that hit to give Granlund a concussion.

I thought the same thing when I saw the YT of it. Leaves his feet either right before, or right after impact, either way he was clearly on a trajectory to hit Granlund in the face/head/neck. Kadri even swings his right elbow around (in a very unnatural motion) to try and make contact on the backside of the hit. I think the hit is much dirtier than most are giving it credit for.

That hit by itself would probably get 1-3 games, but given the fact that he had already taken out Backstrom with a questionable hit earlier in the game, I would like to see him get 10. Throwing that Granlund hit later in the same game as he concussed Backstrom just shows a blatant disregard and lack of respect for your competitors.
