I keep hearing @nycneil will be the next GM in Buffalo. I've always thought he's one of the brightest guys in the game & deserves a shot!

That would be Neil Smith. Pat LaFontaine knows him. Rangers. He had something to do with Smith getting the Islanders job. Smith left and Pat left the Islanders. Nolan was the coach of the Islanders at that time too. The pieces seem to fit.

The Sabres aren't in the middle of the rebuild. They're not even a year into it, as it really began with the Pominville deal. Just because they have had some high picks doesn't mean they were rebuilding. As I've said before, in regards to the Rangers, rebuilding isn't just about jettisoning veterans and playing youth. It's an organizational philosophy. I don't think Regier was the right man for the job. I also think he must have justified the firing of Ruff as the main problem with the team to Pegula. When that obviously wasn't the case, Regier was the next choice. Pegula isn't an idiot when it comes to business. Wish our owner would pay that close attention.

Would love too see Neil Smith back in the game.

I am not sure if he would do a good job, but I like him.

How would Neil Smith do with a cap, and a system that makes it not wise to overpay for average players?? If he gets the job good luck. He will need it. He has not been a GM in the league since those few days as Islanders GM. He is smart so hopefully that will help him

Its amazing to me that owners continue to let lame-duck GM's wheel and deal their team's most coveted assets, only to fire them shortly thereafter.

Columbus did the same thing with Howson. Its bizarre and no way to run any sort of organization.

Great pass by Malkin.

I see Philly has a revolutionary new defensive strategy. Let Crosby be all alone in front of the net.

Florida has made the playoffs with nothing a bunch of 2nd-3rd liners...edmonton can't even get out of the basement with a bunch of 1st round studs. The award definitely goes to EDM.

And at one point during Floridas long rebuild, the Oilers went to game 7 of a Cup final. Nothing but a bunch of 2nd and 3rd liners there either.

Kadri smokes Backstrom, who comes out of the game.

And great play by Grossmann there, leaving Crosby all alone in front of the net.

Great pass by Malkin though.
