The lottery does NOT affect the later rounds. Rounds 2 - 7 order are based off record.

For example, in 2013, Florida had the worst record. But Colorado won the lottery. Colorado had the 1st pick in the 1st round, but Florida had the first pick in rounds 2 - 7.

It is unconscionable to be that so many teams have good goaltending prospects stuck in the minors when teams have guys like Dubnyk starting.

There are some guys there that are competent, but the problem is that for their defensive core, they don't have enough forwards willing to commit to the defensive effort.

The oilers have an average defense with less than average forward support, and that is a bad combination.
