The offside challenge reminded me of just how amazingly bad the NHL product has gotten over the last several years. Like just very few good, if any, good decisions over the last several years. Jersey ads, helmet ads, animated dasher ads, jersey sale to Fanatics, Coach's Challenge, banning Pride tape, fining coaches for disagreeing with refs, on top of getting into bed with all the gambling stuff. It's just unreal how many poor decisions they've made. I can't wait for fresh blood at the top.

I haven't watched a game this season but man this list was like a gut punch. Some of those are things I had blotted out of my memory.

Yet only one of those things actually has an effect on the game itself.

Well I suppose you can add to that the continuous denial of CTE, a suspect and inconsistent DOPS, encouraging the referees to continue to engage in game management instead of calling the game while shielding them from any criticism. And going way back the puck over the glass and the trapezoid are still bad as well.

Beyond that, the game could be absolutely wonderful but if it's terrible to watch then who cares. It keeps getting worse and worse to watch and as a fan I care about that.

Three interesting games at 10. Don’t know which one I want to watch. I know I wish one was staggered to 10:30

Ottawa lost in regulation which was the most important one.

Boeser is having himself a night (4 goals so far, and close to a 5th), and Edmonton is .... not. Vancouver is up 7-1 with 13 minutes left in the 3rd.

I for one don't want to go back to defensemen flipping the puck into the crowd for a face off. The other stuff sure.

Habs-Leafs last night was fun. Montreal may surprise teams who think they are going to roll over early and the Leafs look like they are going to surprise teams with how vacant they are defensively .
They don’t even look all that bad on paper :dunno: Only slightly less intimidating than TOR, which shows you the insane parity in the division.

The Leafs sacrificed sound defensive players for tough players with low hockey IQ. Domi and Bertuzzi bring toughness, but are not adequate defensively. Then you add in an aging D core + the addition of Klingberg, and you have the perfect recipe for a mediocre team defensively.

I don't foresee them making a run anytime soon. I feel like their squad post TDL last year was the best team theyve had in a while. Keefe doesn't strike me as a good coach, either. Im glad they kept him.

It sure seems like Stamkos is on the path to get the Marty St-Louis treatment...

Another view of Hathaway's knee on Werenski. If you put the volume up, you can hear the commentary someone on the ice has about Hathaway as a human.

"Let me guess, it's not your fault?"

"I'm saying, that was the worst."

"You're such a f***ing piece of shit"

The speaker ain't wrong. And it should've stayed a major.
