Nino Niederreiter signs a 3 year extension with WPG. I was peeved Adams *apparently* wasnt in on Nino given how cheap he went for and he was signed for another year. Cheaper than Greenway + didn't have the risk of having Greenway's 3 year deal.

I'm happy with Greenway, but Nino would've been a great pick-up. He'd bring much needed leadership + two way play + points.

I'm still peeved Adams didn't ante up for him.

Insider Trading: Olympic participation twist, new in-season tournament in 2025

The Insiders have the latest on NHL participation at the Olympics and why it might not be the decision everyone is hoping for. They also discuss a new in-season tournament coming in 2025, adjustments to this year's All-Star Skills competition and more.

In season tournament sounds like the dumbest thing ever.

Sounds like a Vegas thing like the NBA

Literally nobody gives a shit about the in season tournament no matter how hard the NBA's media partners/bought and paid for "journalists" try to pretend they do. So naturally the NHL sees this awful idea and says "Let's do the same thing!"

Laughing at the Zadorov-Myers pairing in Vancouver…and of course Myers having a chance to get a shot on net, pulls up and then period ends.

You can take out the guy out of Buffalo but you can’t take the Buffalo out of the guy sometimes.

Eichel is so much better now than he ever was for us and it makes me sad. Imagine if we had competent coaching and could have properly developed him (same with Reinhart)

My take is that he is not the player he was with us meaning a dynamic force (when he wanted to) but he is in a winning environment.

Any idea what Brown is doing living in Buffalo (I know he's from Ithaca)?

Can he coach a PP? How do we get current players to want to live here as much as retired ones seem to?
His younger kids play hockey and Brown said their travel was worse than NHL teams (while living in LA) and (less) travel in the East is better for the kids

per an interview on SirusXM a couple days ago

He also doesn't have to worry about being the face of the franchise, burden of captaincy, etc. Stone and Pietrangelo were established guys and he could let them handle all of that and just play.
