Don't hide behind semantics, it's clear that the violation of contract isn't spurring the release

I'm not hiding behind anything. I said that myself. It is in fact my entire point that they are not taking some moral stand over the violation of contracts but are using their ability to terminate contracts that are violated at their discretion.

You used the words "inherently wrong" which is as big of a dodge as you can possibly take

Completely forgot about the recapture. Of course, if Richards had been bought out, there'd be no recapture.

So, looks like a cap penalty of $1.32M per season over the next 5 years.

Philadelphia, however, is not subject to any recapture penalties as they traded Richards prior to the signing of the current CBA.

After seeing the moves Neely has made Sweeney make I believe that rumor that BOS offered two 2nds for Chris Stewart before trading for Connolly to be true.

The Kings did not say why Richards is in violation of the deal, though several sources told ESPN.com it involves an off-the-ice incident.

Several sources told ESPN.com the Kings were made aware of the situation Friday, approximately an hour after the first round of the 2015 NHL draft had begun.

The team was already in the process of trying to trade him -- discussions were in place with both the Edmonton Oilers and the Calgary Flames -- but Kings general manager Dean Lombardi immediately informed both teams upon learning about the situation that he had no prior knowledge of the incident and halted those talks, according to a source.
