here we go again. yes because ITS ALL HIS FAULT.

he works for the owners and carries out their wishes.

Gary Bettman has done a good job and should continue to present the Stanley Cup. There is no reason he shouldn't.

If you think Bettman does just whatever the owners want and offers no input . . . I have a bridge to nowhere to sell to you.

Torts live presser is up.

  • Torts proud of development of young players on Rangers. Mentions Stepan and Hagelin
  • Going to cultivate relationship with Vancouver media. Wants it to work with the media, but he's gonna need some baggage with that.
  • Fan of the Sedins, thinks they can work since they're hard workers.
  • Thinks Canucks need to take another step to win the cup.

Bryz for Vezina!

Which flash in the pan goalie contends for the Vezina next year? I'm going with Bernier, but I feel that Pavelic and Bryz are also strong possibilities.

i just called Bryz. He answered phone and said, "Congratulations to you guys," then hung up on me

Ouch. He's not taking it well.

He was probably just annoyed at being interrupted from watching Cosmos.

Man he's such a baby, couldn't have happened to a nicer guy.

Anyone watching the Torts Q&A

"work ethic", "winning the battles", "accountability" etc, etc...

Man I won't miss hearing all those cliche Torts-isms. Have fun with that Vancouver.

How many times did AV drop #therightway in his press conference. Everyone in hockey speaks in cliches.

Oh, work ethic, the horror... :shakehead

If there's one thing that carries over from Torts, I hope it's the effort and hard work. You can never win on talent alone, Chicago battled through to win that cup last night.

I have no problem with coaches speaking in cliches or praising work ethic.

I did have a problem with the fact that Torts' entire gameplan was based on work ethic. Win the puck battles and the offense will come...

How about some actual offensive strategy? The Rangers were completely lost once they passed their own blue line.

1-2 punches in goaltending aren't necesarilly a good thing. You have two guys who want to play 60+ games, and it creates a circus. I'd rather have an elite #1 and a solid backup who knows his role.

I disagree with all of them, but Reimer-Bernier blows me away.

Reimer and Bernier both put up excellent numbers last season.

And I agree with GJG's post of having 2 good goalies is pretty irrelevant when you have an elite tender putting up elite numbers for 60GP.

Because offense can't be taught. You either have it or you don't. Every coach adapts to a roster's personnel, which is why Torts had everyone reverting to a system based on work ethic. Even AV during his first season with the Canucks had a shot blocking system that relied heavily on their goaltender to steal wins. I expect pre 09 AV more than post 09 AV coaching style.
