Vancouver pummels Dallas tonight, in spite of losing Bo Horvat for the regular season. Luke Schenn pummels Benn in the game. Victory puts them a point back of Vegas with a game in hand, tomorrow, against Ottawa. 4 points back of the Kings with that game in hand, and a game against the Kings. Kings though have the easiest schedule down the stretch.

Dallas did not get the goaltending tonight, and if they play like they did against the Canucks they could get swept going through Western Canada. Nashville also has a tough schedule playing the Flames twice, as well Minnesota, Tampa, Colorado, and luckily Arizona, so the race for 3 Western playoff spots might go to the wire.

Canucks had Nic Petan playing tonight, so it's not like the Canucks have overwhelmingly better talent than the Jets, but there's something to be said about Boudreau as a coach, getting the team to believe itself. Canucks making the playoffs would be a heck of a storyline.

I'd much rather see Vancouver make it than Vegas/Dallas/Nashville
Also good to see Petan back in the majors

So I was checking teams stats the other day and had a look at the St Louis Blues. They have 9 forwards with over 46 points. Now that is some impressive depth! Now there is a team that knows how to draft and develop and make excellent trades! I think they have a legit shot at beating Colorado in the playoffs this year.

And this is a team that lost pietreangelo one and a half years ago to Vegas - a d-man who is regarded as better than Buff. No excuses though as St louis just keeps trucking along, making the playoffs year after year.

I like what they've done but I'd say they don't have a prayer against the Avs, they'll have trouble with the Wild before they'd get the Avs anyways. Of course anything can happen but I don't think I'd qualify their chances as "legit".

I brought it up in a previous thread. Their fwd depth is legit imo. Tarasenko turned back the clock, Schenn & Perron are doing their thing. Drafted Thomas and Kyrou who are thriving, as well as Barbashev who is having a career year. Then, traded relatively low prices for both ROR and Buchnevich (no ntc or Nmc on either).

That 2017 draft might be the turning point in the Jets franchise. By keeping Enstrom protected in the expansion draft, they lost on possible stars like Suzuki, Thomas, or Josh Norris. If Vesalainen busts, this is really the turning point of the draft & develop taking a negative turn, because the next year there is no #1, the follwing year the #1 was essentially traded back for Trouba, and since 2018 the Jets have made 19 total picks, one of whom has already been traded. Many draft picks traded to fill holes.

The Blues have made big trades, especially to shore up at centre. But they filled holes through free agency too, like getting Krug to replace Pietrangelo.

I look at that front office of the Blues and there's some good hockey people running that operation. The development of Ville Husso, with Joe Hofer in the wings, has kept them competitive in goal, in a season where Binnington has lost his edge.

Not to mention other solid players Chytil and Liljegren (the guy who the Jets were gonna draft if available according to Garret), even if just have Liljegren we are looking much better. So many good players went between #13 and where the Jets drafted. :(

Yeah what you pointed out with the goaltending is what I'd like to see with us. Helle with a minor down year, Comrie taking the year as a positive and a winning record as a true backup, Berdin developing good in the minors, but adding Hobey Baker winner McKay as a project that could work out for us (he does have some amazing stats and has a GAA of less than 2.00 and SV% around .931 in the last 4 yeas) would be great for the long-term plan. We'll in net anyways lol

Add the Stars for the 2017 draft too. Heiskanen, Robertson and Oettinger in a single draft. That's a #1 d, a winger scoring at a 40g pace and a potential starting goalie.

Not sure even Maurice or Lowry would do this

Good, hire DeBoer as our next coach. Goalies have been treated like f***ing royalty for too long. Yank 'em and bench 'em like you would any other player. And change the f***ing rules so when they go wandering from their crease, they can be slammed into the boards like any other player. Keep yer head up, Helly...

Apparently St.Louis owns the Wild. Just heard some ridiculous stat about how Minnesota meeting the Blues would be a nightmare. 12-2 in the last couple of years.

Maybe that would be a good thing….As it would stop him from coming out of the net to play the puck haha
