Matthews is the best player in the league right now, change my mind.
Easy.
Vasilevsky from the Lightning. No contest.
Winner of the last 2 Stanley Cups. A brick wall. Under 2 goals against each playoff. Save pct averaging over .930.
Most importantly, elevates his game come playoff time.
Many get sucked in by Matthews regular season stats.

My mind isn't changed. I still think Matthews is the best player in the league this season.

Between the Pipes
Replacement for Chevy?

Doug Wilson is stepping down after 19 seasons on the job.

The team announced Thursday that Joe Will remains interim GM until a full-time replacement can be found. Will has been running the team's hockey operations since Wilson went on medical leave in late November.

"While I have made great progress over the last several months, I feel it is in the best interest of the organization and myself to step down from my current duties and focus on my health and full recovery,'' Wilson said in a statement. "I look forward to continuing my career in the NHL in the future.''

2016 re-draft would be pretty interesting. It'd be something like:
1. Matthews
2. Fox
3. Sergachev
4. Tkachuk
5. Debrincat
6. Dubois
7. Laine
7. Keller
8. Mcavoy
9. Pulljujaarvi

Edit: Chychrun in there somewhere too. Probably in between Dubois/Debrincat, or below Dubois but above Laine

I'd have McAvoy over Sergachev I think, but not sure if either that high. Also Jesper Bratt has been excellent. 7th in pts from that draft and essentially same ppg as PLD.

I think you have Sergachev and DeBrincat too high and McAvoy too low

Sportsnet breaking down Matthews changing his shirt in 3 different articles.

Is it just me or does 55 goals in a season seem like a weak record for a 100 year old franchise?

Just checking the O6:
TOR - 56* (Matthews 2022)
MTL - 60 (Lafleur 1978/Shutt 1977)
DET - 65 (Yzerman 1989)
NYR - 54 (Jagr 2006)
BOS - 76 (Esposito 1971)
CHI - 58 (Hull 1969)

Some franchises just don’t have big numbers for certain records while others do. I mean, the Thrashers single season goal scoring record is 52. And they were barely in the league a decade.
