I actually love what he's saying and get it 100%. As an offensive player, you want to be able to feel the game and not constantly think about where the coach wants you to be. I'm not sure it's the best approach when you have players that aren't Marty St. Louis caliber, but the freedom might shake loose some talent that wasn't able to come out in some of their players. I mean, really, what do they have to lose?

Still remember that draft thinking no way either Barzel or Connor fall to us and low and behold Boston just shits the bed and we have a chance at either one.

Its strange the Bruins had a great draft the year before and got 4 NHL players from 5 picks then to see them get this so wrong. They still managed to get Carlo and Lauzon so it wasn't horrible but man they select Barzal and Connor and they would be so loaded
I remember vividly going into the draft hoping for Boeser or Konecny, once Boston made their picks, it had to be Connor. Just a strange series of events.

I don't even understand what the problem is with requiring playoff rosters to be cap compliant. I remember the explanation being that it had something to do with players not getting paid a salary while in the playoffs. Surely they'd be able to make what should be a relatively minor change to the CBA to say that the cap is still in place despite salary only being paid in the regular season.

I'm sure they could. But they're turning a blind eye because expansion teams are doing it. They make Bettman look good.

If it was a less desirable team, and I'm including the Jets in the list of teams, they would have put a stop to it in the first off season.

Let's face it. There's a hierarchy where the teams at the top get more leeway than teams at the bottom. That is why Schiefele got suspended for 4 playoff games and Foligno only got 2 regular season games (okay, maybe different situations, but my point is the same).

This is why I think the Jets won't ever win a cup, because the deck is stacked heavily against them. They could have the best roster in the NHL, but officiating will be heavily skewed against them in a cup run because the optics won't look good for the league.

I'll never not be mad about the WCF against Vegas, with all the bogus they pulled. I remember when McNabb crosschecked Scheifele in the face and made his mouth bleed - no call. Scheifele turns around and slashes him back and gets called for a penalty.

That's when I realized for the first time that Vegas gets favourable reffing. The NHL needs them to succeed.

That may be what the NHL (Bettman) thinks. I think the reality is that they need to get some integrity into the game.

I expect Boston passed on Connor because they saw him for what he was and turned out to be: a one dimensional player that won't/can't defend. And last time I checked... Boston solidly in playoff spot, Jets not so much.

:naughty: Connor has been very good this season away from Scheifele and Wheeler. Dubois and Connor are the 2 players we absolutely have nothing to complain about this season.

Bruins performance relies heavily on players they had long before that draft. They passed on 1 dimensional Connor to take three 0 dimensional players. 2 aren't NHL players and the other is a 3rd liner, at best.

Not to mention that KC is getting a lot better at things other than just scoring goals. Did I just say 'just' scoring goals? I think that is the object of the game, no?

NHL should’ve cracked down on this last year after Tampa did this and rewarded themselves with back-to-back asterisk Cups. NHL turned a blind eye and now this will be commonplace as teams try to get a competitive advantage.

"He's fine to play!"

Quinn's frst goal goal in the NHL in his 2nd game.
Buffalo took him over Rossi, Perfetti. Lundell, etc...
His 2nd game in the NHL and they have him on the 1PP.
He got hurt and is out 4-6 weeks...

Remember the game winning goal Vegas scored?
Hellebuyck's mask needed repairs and the refs would not allow him to go to the bench to get it repaired. The next faceoff Vegas scored.
