Story of the first two games is Hellebuyck.
McDrai are getting chances, Jets D are swiping a lot of them away, but Hellebuyck is easily out-shining everyone else.

In the Caps/Bruins game, they are making a big deal about Pastrnak not scoring a goal in 5 games. FIVE. Imagine having players good enough to be worried about them not scoring in 5 games. I think we expect stretches in the teens of no goals by our best players.
When you don't have RT as coach expectations are much higher.:)

You don't understand. Ken Holland is a genius for going into the playoffs with a sub replacement starter and Mike Smith.

Gotta keep those picks and prospects.
I wish we had those picks and prospects. The Oilers are in the playoffs, we aren't.

Smith has been hot but easily the most impressive thing in that series is the Jets defense. They are all over the Oilers being consistently physical and not allowing them to get set up much. As soon as McDavid hits the ice someone is on him. The Jets want this series.

The Jets are playing this perfectly. Paul Maurice is saving his job.

I watched the game last night, Smith was world class, easily their best player. They have one line McDrai, Jets have shut them down, so far. There lack of depth is being exposed by a well prepped team. This isn't Hollands fault or Tip's.

It is Holland’s fault. The depth he added had been useless trash and it was obvious at the time he added. Oilers fans were smug and over confident about it but it was garbage depth.

I would love to see them play the aves, knights, blues, wild, etc 8 games and have them still make it. Haha
I don't think many playoff teams would be too worried about playing the Blues this year, they aren't good. The Canadian division is no better or no worse than the others.

In your scenario Holland would have given up Halloway and/or Bear for Keumper. That would have made them a worse team this year and going forward. Rome wasn't built in a day.

Outside of trading Drai/McDavid, he had no way to improve, other than fill in some scraps and cross his fingers. Holland is suffering from previously bad GM decisions just like BA. The difference in Edmonton is Tip did it with mirrors outside of the top 2 players, hid the lack of depth, but in the playoffs, teams have more time and are better prepared, your weakness gets exposed. We had RT, he couldn't hide anything:)

Oilers will need to trade Drai to really improve as a team and add the depth they need. I am sure Holland doesn't want to do it but he might be forced to now. Oilers would have been blown out if not for Smitty:)
