Another malcontent on the Rangers spouting off. Theyre the new Senators, what a shit show.

Edit: That locker room must be rotten. Players are scratched multiple times and its rare for a player to go public with it.

A full NHLPA pardon for sure

They have yet to meet their first player that deserved a suspension for maiming their players. I feel like they are trapped in the most dysfunctional codepenant relationship ever where they act as defense attorney for criminal acts only which stops them from prosecuting players that take liberties with their constituents.

Honestly somehow it does seem like the players agree publically at least. I suppose they would get shamed if they individually bitch out about getting violent concussions that they may get PTSD from one day. They can just sue the owners I guess.

I remain unconvinced that they'll win. I'd think it would be fairly easy to convince a judge that the owners tried (if they're smart, and given their money and legal representation, they're at least probably 'smart' from that perspective) to work with the players to resolve the injury issue but the players declined.

I'd guess players from the Scott Stevens era would have a leg to stand on given how brutal it was and accepted by both players and the league. The last 15 years or however long DOPS has been involved? Everyone can see it's a joke.

Yup makes me even more thankful for our Jets. It could easily be so much worse than having a team that's 1st in the entire NHL right now.

Yea I think the league has evolved just enough to avoid major damages. It’s a really dangerous job by nature so the league just needs to check a few boxes and I think the competition committee and DOPS probably put forth the appearance they give a shit. Also I mean we have lots of kids who have opted out of hockey in my kids high school because the secret it out on concussions.

Players can’t pretend they don’t know the risks anymore.

At some point legally the NHL will probably need to make bare knuckle fighting a game misconduct and then they are covered for sure.

The time for the NHLPA to step up on safety issues is at bargaining time. The procedures for supplementary discipline are negotiated. Once in the CBA the PA is obligated to "act as defense attorney" in every case, making sure that the contract is followed.

They can, and should, negotiate on behalf of the players being injured instead of on behalf of the miscreants. I don't know which side they have been on in previous negotiations. They have probably had one foot on each side of the fence. That would be the wrong stance, IMO. They need to adopt player safety as a cause.

At some point fairly soon a lifetime damaged player is going to sue both the league and the PA. If they make it a class action the sh** will hit the fan.

If you read the sports pages in Van these days, the Canucks locker room squabbles get more attention than what the team is doing on the ice.

My dad says he misses the days when the players just took the king's shilling and kept their mouths shut.

The team on the ice has been capable of some epic collapses this year. Tyler Myers as the #1 d-man with Hughes and Hronek out, isn't going to get the Nucks anywhere. It sounds like Pettersson is going to be the guy traded, JT Miller is a leader, but he seems like the kind of leader Scheifele was in 2021-22, where the effort isn't always there. But maybe a bigger jerk than Scheif. They still have to re-sign Boeser or cut bait. I think the Canucks could implode if their management makes the wrong moves. Or does nothing. That's a helluva of a spot.

I see our Poet in Residence now gone silent still likes a few posts now and then. Last one was up above at 8:30 or so.

Perhaps he will again favour us with his verses, or at least an explanation for why he has deprived us of his immense talents and considerable wit.

He mentionned a self imposed social media hiatus and he'd be back more regularly in the future

And the crazy part is that management did a pretty good job of retooling that team quickly into a pseudo-contender
