As much as this should be the case I'm not sure it is. Got a feeling Drury is desperate and will try and salvage this season

Probably, if he can't, he'll get fired. Sounds like a very desperate GM looking to add, and the Canucks have the guy they've called about for multiple trade deadlines now.

Vancouver probably wants Panarin
They do not. No interest in Panarin or zib.

Canucks would be most interested in Laf, and one of Schneider/KAM, depending what they're planning on defense, which we don't know but there's options and opinions on both.

Gotta love both fan bases going off on each other when literally none of us know about any deal that have even been discussed 😂

We know that Drury has called the Canucks about Miller for the past 2-3 deadlines and that the Canucks don't want to take Zibanejad, if they did a deal already would have been made, and that the Canucks coveted Lafreniere and Schneider previously, and are probably asking about those players again now.

As per Dhaliwal, Friedman, and others.

Miller has 2 goals his last 20 games. Both goals empty netters

That being said, he should be valuable for a few years tops. Already 32.

Change of scenery should do him good

Are things really that bad that the two can’t make things work? What are they even fighting about. Sounds like it’s about petty differences.
Sounds like sound and fury from media and rabid fans with little evidence to actually indicate that a rift is the major issue here. GM said he was supportive of Miller taking time he needed. Team has sustained major injuries to some of its key players all year. GM’s only comment about trading EP was in response to a question where he said “anything is possible”. These two guys may not get along, but there are other clear, obvious reasons that could explain poor team play and Miller’s absence (personal matters).

This place is a goddamn sewing circle.

Him and Zib both need a change of scenery probably. Miller gets to play with his buddy Trocheck. Zib gets to play with fellow Swedes in Vancouver.

Either Miller’s going to the Rangers in a blockbuster trade..

Or Pettersson’s going to the Islanders in a blockbuster trade.

JT Miller is a beast. Power forward who shuts down McDavid, can pass or shoot, hits hard and often, puts up 100 pts, and drags those with him through the battle. He is a player you win with in the playoffs.

If we were getting this JTM, there’s no way he’d ever be traded. The problem is it’s impossible for him to keep up this level of intensity, which is emotionally driven. And his keeping teammates accountable can wear thin when he’s being the bad, inconsistent JTM.

There’s a very good chance a change of scenery gets him back to being the good JTM, who is exactly what the Rags need to turn their season around and Drury knows it. That JTM won’t last more than 2 seasons, maybe more likely 1.5, but it would for sure be worth it for the Rags to give it 1-2 more shots with this core.

Rags fans have no idea the kind of unicorn they could be getting here.
“Shuts down McDavid” LOL.

McDavid has 9 points in 7 Playoff games against the Nucks last year.

McDavid has 52 points in 28 games against the Canucks since JT Miller joined the team.

What's there to salvage though? They're like a 4-5% chance to make the playoffs and their superstar goalie is on IR. It's over.

His job. If they go from a president's trophy to a lottery team while turning the entire dressing room against him he will be fired and he's gonna be pretty desperate to keep his job.

The problem with trading Miller for the Canucks is they need a Center to replace him. So even if you traded Lafreniere for him which I doubt would happen the Canucks would have to play like Pius Suter at 2C.

I think the Canucks certainly would entertain moving Miller just would have to be the right package coming back.

He had a 100 points last yr. Was that a fluke? Well he had 99 a couple before that. Hes top 10 in offensive production over the last 4 yrs.

9 points in 7 for McDavid is by definition shutting him down. He averages just under 2 points per game.

He was 1.69 pts/game that playoffs. That’s not the definition of shutting him down that’s more like slightly slowing him down if it can even be attributed to JT Miller.

Looking at regular season against Miller and the Nucks, McDavid continues to feast over a long sample size of 5 years against Miller included Nucks. So what, does Millers shutdown McDavid game only exist for a couple games in the playoffs?

Exactly. He was at 1.28 ppg vs Vancouver and 1.83 for the rest of the playoffs.

Not sure if you noticed the game is different in the playoffs. Far more physical. Not sustainable over a full season. So yes it is far different.

You’re attributing that way too much to JT. If that effect at all held during the 58 other games they played against eachother maybe you’d be onto something. But the statement “shut down” McDavid would still be an overstatement, he might have maybe slowed him down a bit from a great pace to a still good pace. In that 7 game short sample, there were other factors at play as well.
