Anybody else notice .... people wearing Jets jerseys at games where the Jets are not even playing?
Twice last week in 2 different games fans were sitting right behind the visitors bench wear the Jets jersey.
If this keeps up ... Jets will be Canada's team by Christmas.
Yup. They usually do a "Lost Fan" piece on the scoreboard at games and show people wearing team jerseys that are not playing.

A lot of Swedes barely have an accent. I think there are linguistic similarities between English and Swedish (they're both Germanic, but I think we also share a lot of the same sounds that are tricky for non-native English speakers).

I'd kindly settle for a tall glass of milk.

That's right. Nicklas Lidstrom in particular, speaks as though he was raised in Canada.

I know Swedes who talk like they have a mouth full of marbles, almost sound Dutch. I knew a Swedish girl who spoke English with a very cultured British accent. That is the way they were taught in school.

She started her English in the first year of school and it continued to the end of high school. They give it that much priority.

Turns out you can just tune in to the Amazon broadcasts (or at least this Leafs one) before the game actually starts and it's just a feed of cameras around the arena with a timer in the top left. There's some behind the scenes areas of the arena too.
It cycles between showing concourses, the belly of the arena, and the ice with seats as they're filling before the game.

Interested to see how it's like next Monday when it's here.

The few Scandinavians I've gotten to know well have all been skilled linguists. Then again, their education system is vastly superior to most of ours in North America.
And this is an understatement. Just in case someone wants to spent 7 minutes looking at how different the education systems are.

RE Amazon hockey live …..To be honest, I’ve seen better quality from other sources for this game at least. I watched the Mon / Pitts game 2 days after it was on and the quality of the image was great. Something not quite there tonight.

You'd be amazed at how many students are being graduated from high school without actually being able to read or write beyond a grade 4 level. And the really depressing thing is how many experienced college teachers will shrug and say you get used to it.

I've never really liked the lighting in Toronto. Always seems a little washed out. The players, particularly around their helmets look soft.

same with germans. I visited berlin last summer and the amount of people who speak perfect english (and have an incredible vocabulary) actually kinda blew me away.

That is so impressive. There should be more sharing on different approaches like this.

It's a reason we moved the family back to Winnipeg to raise the kids. The high school our kids would have tracked into in the States and a 80% literacy rate for grads
