It was never about a guaranteed roster spot rather he didn't want to live and play in a Canadian market particularly Winnipeg. It's apparent from his early play that he's not ready for the NHL just yet and will be in the AHL soon.

Anyone else watching the Monday Night Hockey Amazon broadcast to see what to expect?

John Forslund covering the Habs game.

The stream quality seems noticeably better than TSN4K and Sportsnet's 4K broadcasts. The broadcast introduction lasted probably 5 minutes total between John Forslund introducing the broadcast crew with a map of where they're from and right into the panel who introduced themselves with a short ~30 second video. After that it was all about the Habs and all about the Penguins.

Seems to be simple and to the point focusing the broadcast on the teams. A bit of fluff in the pregame but they're not shoving sports gambling at every chance they get. I think I've seen 2 ads for a sportsbook.
