I feel like whenever Rempe hits the ice on Monday, Keefe will send out MacDermid and/or Dillon in an attempt to keep him honest. I don't think it will work, though.

It's just ridiculous that in this day and age, we see a promotion of some scrub from the minors and immediately have to fear an Oggie Oglethorpe situation. Gutless franchise.

I don't think this had a ton to do with bringing Siegenthaler in. The thing is that Nico seemed to get along with the other European guys on the team right away (and indeed he had already been in Halifax for a year).

Honestly, this makes me feel a bit better about the return we got for Zacha, who was also traded after some unremarkable years in the league.

At least we got a serviceable player back, who we re-signed, rather than the Voltron made of spare parts that the Rangers just got for a more highly regarded prospect.

This just speaks more to the fact that the Devils gave Zacha a ton of rope. He played 17 minutes a game in his final two seasons here. Kakko has been getting 13 minutes a game the last season+.

Once I saw the promotion of Rempe back to the NHL, I texted my Rags fan friend saying that we both know why he was called up. She pleaded her case that this is really about getting the locker room culture back on the right track and that Drury did this as a make-good measure. Honestly, I can't argue with that, but I think the intent to injure that he brings is a bonus. And if you need a guy who's proven repeatedly that he has no interest in playing a skilled game in the NHL- one that he supposedly can play in other levels of hockey- then your culture isn't worth saving. I don't care how rattled the Rangers are by the Broad Street Bullies and Tom Wilson. It's a dogshit way to play the game.

Ya, just added having the young euro triumvirate helping the process to my previous post.

I also think Nico had a fairly outgoing personality and may not need that cushion, where Kakko seems more introverted so could have used that veteran Finn helping him along.

The Swiss thing with Sieg's may(or may not) just be an added plus that is tossed in when talking about such a trade . Having Nico, may actually have been viewed as a plus in hoping they can get Sieg's to further grow into his game?

General theme on this is having positive work environment is a good thing, especially for young players, especially those that are foreign born.

Had nothing to do with the expansion draft. Siegenthaler was a healthy scratch for a month who had demanded a trade. Washington obliged.

My brother-in-law only got into hockey once the Kraken came into the league. He and my sister live in Portland, and that team is the only acceptable thing from Seattle for that city to like. It was fun to go back in time to regale him with the excuses and cope that Rangers fans and Finns had for saying Kakko was better.

He's way off. Borgen is a middle pairing defenseman at best, with little offensive ability. I doubt teams are clamoring to add him, but you never know.

There are a lot of dumb GMs out there, and it just takes one who is also desperate.

I saw that part of the reason the Rangers made this trade was to acquire a RHD, which seem to be in short supply. By that token, his value should go up a bit if there aren't many RHD available at the TDL.

On the other hand, the guy is only averaging 15:12 ATOI this season for a team that is 23rd in the league standings. Granted that's down from 17:35 last seasons and some of Seattle's additions to the blueline may have something to do with that, but I can't see any scenario in which he returns a 1st round pick - those are usually not spent on a CLEAR bottom pairing depth defenseman.

its smart for the rangers to call up rempe whatever they are doing isn't working so its worth a shot for them i mean he did help them out last jan/feb/march. I dont like the goon aspect of it but thats why they have mac and he should be out there and given the green light to lay the body and help the team

So you don't think locker room chemistry is a consideration for mgmt?

And the Swiss thing may have been a small factor, and maybe no factor at all, I can't say I know it was, but after drafting a Swiss at #1, we brought in another Swiss in Mueller not long after, and then yet another Swiss player after that. Heck I forgot Timo is also Swiss.

There are currently 10 Swiss players in the NHL. We have 3 of them. Is that just some random anomaly? It could be I guess.

Incredibly so. Borgen was a third pairing in Seattle playing sheltered minutes and his numbers are still terrible.

I think he posted that one time on the Rangers board and they just kind of laughed at him.

It’s really not that easy to change loyalties. I’ve done it in one case but it was after I lost interest in the sport and then moved cities. It was the Nets, they also moved cities so that probably made it easier too.

I hate the Yankees but still root for them. I hate the Jets but I still root for them. That one is definitely on life support though, haha.

Seeing his meltdown in real time is one of my top memories from this board. The fact that the Devils went on an incredible run immediately afterwards and wound up having their best regular season ever (point wise) and beating the Rangers in the playoffs was the cherry on top.

He was an annoying poster even before that epic meltdown. Always doom and gloom - do wonder if he eventually came back under a different username. There were a couple that popped up afterwards that seemed to be him, but not sure if he's still around.
