No Hamilton ? I’m glad that he isn’t on the roster so we don’t have to worry about possible injury or fatigue. But sucks that he wasn’t recognized as one of the better Dmen in the league and was snubbed IMO . Hopefully it pisses him off and he plays with a chip on his shoulder and is on a mission to show he is better than the others that were selected.

I don't know that he is. Like Samheim he's way better than offensively but not defensively. The rest are probably better overall.

I get the logic when Jeff Marek said that Parayko doesn’t have to have an offensive role with Team Canada like he does with the Blues, but still, no Montour or Weegar is a choice.

The US forward group is a bit shit on the bottom but I have no notes for the defense.
 
Somewhat questionable omissions from team Canada - Scheifelle , Wilson , Weegar ,Thomas , Thompson , Hamilton, Montour .
I don’t get why Thompson wasn’t one of the three goalies .

I realize it’s all about making the best roster and not just who has the most skill. So I get most of the picks but Parayko over Weegar is kinda odd IMO .
And no Thompson as a goalie also is a head scratcher for me.
I would take Wilson ( even though I dislike him) over Jarvis . A Wilson Bennet Marchand line …. I call it the Dbag weasel line lol .

I get why Keller wasn’t taken I guess. He wasn’t going to be in the top 6 over anyone they picked , and isn’t better suited in the bottom 6 either I guess . I don’t know . I would have taken Tage or Keller over Trochek or Nelson though. Unless one or both of those two are used as PK / shutdown / better two-way guys .

I wouldn’t say weak but compared to the US , I’d say inferior D and goalies are vastly inferior. US has three Vézina quality goalies…. Canada has a bunch of Meh
On D , Hughes and Werenski are Norris level good . With McAvoy added … ya . USA on paper is scary good . Only advantage Canada has is at C . McD MacKinnon Crosby is hard to beat for C depth lol .

Yes true , I agree with you . I’m Canadian as well . I think it’s an “ ok “ group of D but not nearly as good as in the past and not as good as team USA’s

The Canadian forwards are amazing, the D are meh compared to historical rosters and the goaltending is pure vomit

Yeah, not gonna lie, fans are happy but I'd be super upset if one of those guys got hurt. I don't even want Markstrom getting starts for Sweden

I know Kreider is used on the PK but wasn’t sure about Trochek Nelson or if anyone else in the top 9 was capable. It makes sense to use those guys then if no one else is really a PK / shutdown / all around type .

Not really much of a snub for Hamilton. His main attribute is being a #1 PP QB, which he wasn't going to get with Makar on the roster.

I guess Theodore would be the #2 PP dman?

its such a stupid concept of a tournament. the only positive is that its tv time zone friendly not like playing the olympics on the other side of the world

Montembeault had 2 things going for him, the fact that they're playing 2 games in Montreal and is currently I believe the only french Canadian they took. If they didn't select one it would have been the end of the world in la belle province lol
 
I understand why Russia and Belarus are suspended from the IIHF but not having them in the World Juniors , the Olympics and this 4 Nations Tournament sucks. It would be nice to see Gritsyuk or Silayev play in a tournament.
