Well, I mean, he's cultivated the temperament and image of a frat boy at 40 years old and the schtick wears thin.

I'm glad his platform was used for good here, though.

Sure, people can dislike him. However, a ton of people here happily dismissed everything he reported on because they don't like him as a person which is incredibly on-point for the internet.

That's kind of the risk of acting the way he does though. Maybe he realizes that and maybe he doesn't, but if he wants to lean into credibility then some of weird shit should probably be curbed.

Like that weird sandpaper tweet. Probably don't do that.

It's not really a risk for him, he will have his viewers regardless. His prime demographic eats that crass talk up.

Edit: that sandpaper tweet was wtf though, I don't use Twitter though so didn't see it until I saw it here.

By risk I mean people taking what he says seriously. What he's doing is successful in getting views and himself paid, absolutely, but if he wants to dabble in "serious" conversations that will be an uphill battle.

That's probably part of what I'm saying, I don't think he's making any attempt to be anything more than "entertainment" news. Like a certain major news source, you know the one.

People can be upset about it but locker rooms are full of guys like Biz.

It's dude-bro sport culture, not even just hockey.

You'd get in trouble for shooting pucks at people on the street too, what's your point?
Who’s upset? Every industry has its share of douchebags. That doesn’t mean that everyone in the industry is that way, nor does it legitimize a douchebag as being anything other than a douchebag.

edit - there’s also the serious argument of Charles Barkley being 100% correct back in the day

right, which is why it's reasonable for people (like myself) to not take what he says as 100% truth right off the bat and be somewhat skeptical of his claims.

Whoever jumped to conclusions about the Babcock situation based off of the person giving the info. Also what are you referring to with Barkley?

Yeah, you would. Finish the thought.

Well I mean the logical conclusion is that there's a time and a place for everything (edit: and a lot of what goes on in hockey is not acceptable outside of hockey). But I'm not connecting the dots because Biz's "hockey douche" persona seems to be limited to places where it's allowed and even encouraged (podcasts, social media etc) as opposed to somebody literally walking around and hitting people, which is a crime.

Fair enough.

The comments from Jarmo and Davidson are not really driving confidence in their management. Man, Columbus cannot get a break. In all fairness, they have build a deep system tho, but feels like it needs a different leadership group to take them further into competition again.

In their latest podcast Biz goes into real detail on everything went down and what he knew. Pretty revealing
Amazing. It's not even that you might uncover a closeted player, like Whitney said...mundane things are allowed to be private, too, and shouldn't be forced into the public by a coach. My camera roll is essentially a visual diary of my thoughts: pics of my family, screenshots I've shared with friends or family, pictures of things I might want to paint, photos of myself making stupid faces that I send to my daughter when I'm traveling, just whatever strikes me. None of that is anyone's business, let alone fair game for the workplace.

If my boss wanted to see pictures of my family I'd show him. If he asked to see my phone and scroll through my pics I'd tell him no. But I'm a middle aged man and a lawyer. A kid trying to make the NHL? That's ridiculous. Jarmo should be gone too, since he knew about it.

It also sounds like these photo sharing sessions were cordial with the more established/powerful figures (Jarmo, Jenner, Gaudreau), but with the younger players, Babcock was much more aggressive and invasive. He clearly had thought it out to where the prominent people would be willing to dismiss these types of allegations (which they did) and essentially gaslight the younger players into thinking there wasn’t anything wrong it. That’s some horrendous behavior and I’m glad he will never be back.

Horrendous and also just weird. Boulder-faced weirdo.

I didn't even think of that. He shouldn't have been allowed to resign, unless that means the Jackets don't have to pay him. If they still do, then he shouldn't have been allowed that dignity.

Shame on Jarmo.

I have precious memes on my phone. I don't share those with everyone!

Now that Bob Murray is in Philly as a Senior Advisor, how long before his man Randy Carlyle becomes the Flyers coach ?

I'm willing to bet Babs got a payoff. He took no responsibility for anything in his prepared statement and didn't apologize for anything. I think he got paid in money and his ability to make such a weak statement so that he would go away quietly. Just my $0.02
