where the hell is that $284M→$3B number from? and why include that stat?

makes it seem like he's the reason Lundqvist and Igor are doing so well, and that made the team worth 10x more
It did. Wall Street loves non-North American goalies when valuing a sports franchise.

This would make me a little nervous as a Rangers fan. Probably not for next year, but every year it’s likely the coaching will be slightly worse than the year before as it drifts from his concepts.

its crazy to think not that long ago you could've got into nhl prime north american city for what 300 million? now worth 3 billion! lol thats absolutely insane i get the rangers werent selling but crazy still considering an expansion team now will be what 750?

guess the tie in with the goalies is hank and igor keeping the team "cup contenders" to an extent helps drive up interest exposure and thus price

That valuation seems weird. What are they including with all of that?

I'm pretty sure the Rangers itself have been separated out from every profit making part of the business.

very fair, but i mean who's to say this goalie coach had that much of a factor? can't really evaluate when they had two superstar starting goalies. it's not like this guy turned some scrub goaltender into gold

WTF is the Caitlin Clark comment? Just calling him a girl? Christ

There’s like half a million worse Caitlin Clark takes bouncing around (which we don’t have to discuss AT ALL), he’s not beating the competition with just that.

including the goalie coach as a reason the team's valuation went up that much is a huuuuuge stretch lol Weekes cracks me up sometimes

It's a ridiculous stretch. Especially because that increase in valuation and revenue is not unique to the Rangers. Virtually every Big 4 Leagues sports franchise enjoyed a bump in value during that same period. It's possible the Rangers outperformed the rising tide that lifted all boats, but I doubt it was by much.

You'd have to be a total moron or outright fraud to lose money running a sports franchise in the last couple decades. Makes the Coyotes' failure look even more pathetic.

Yeo and Green weren't even in Vancouver at the same time, so I'm not sure why or how he plucked Yeo out of Vancouver. Baumgartner is his guy from when they were in Vancouver (I think they were both fired together?) but Yeo was an assistant in Philly, who was getting ready to soon become the interim coach after AV was fired. Or maybe AV was fired by the Flyers before Green/Baumgartner were fired by Vancouver. They were both fired right around the same time.

Yeo didn't come to Vancouver until the next season.

I'm guessing this is all coincidental, but I've seen people (incorrectly) talk about these connections as if Yeo was one of his guys from Vancouver. He was not. They did not intersect there at all. Now maybe they've worked together somewhere in the very distant past, but it was never in Vancouver.

Rangers' Shesterkin on if he will sign extension: 'I don't speak English'

Why don't we get Shesterkin . He wants 12 million now and the Rangers don't want to give it to him.

That would be super funny if we got him.:laugh::laugh:

(of course that's just silly talk as the cost would be too high and no way in hell the Rags won't re-sign him and risk him going to a division opponent)

Hard to see the Rangers not sign him even if they have to overpay him given how singularly dependent they are on him.

He deserved his money. He was robbed of Hart couple years ago and he is the only real reason why they played two Conference finals in three years. Of course he will not play his full deal on the 12 mil level but why he should not ask maximum when his compatriot Bobrovsky got 10 mil some years ago in lower tax situation?
