Yes, I can picture you running to the local record shop and purchasing the new device known as “the record player”.

Woody Guthrie was likely your first vinyl.

Alvin and the Chipmunks, bub. I’m not that old.

(Actually, it was for beer money.)

Am I crazy or were Pens fans less complicit with Cooke than Cap fans are with Wilson?

I mean I know there plenty of fans who defended Cooke but *LITERALLY* every Caps fan defends Wilson.

Is the Caps fan base just utterly and thoroughly subhuman?

Discuss.

Yes.

The constant defending of Wilson is mind-boggling. Like...even Flyers fans aren't as defensive of Gudas as Caps fans are of Wilson.

Recency bias. The Pens fans love fest for Cooke was so bad I questioned if we really even needed them in the US or if we could just go to 49 states.

Mike Milbury was the “hold my beer meme” years before it become a pop culture item.
"hold my shoe"

Yes.

I think it's to distract from the fact that he hasn't turned into "Eric Lindros" like he was supposed to, or whatever.

When Barry Trotz landed with the Capitals, he asked more of Tom Wilson, i.e. told Wilson that he had to do more than just be the punisher. From what I heard on HNIC (may have been Friedman), Wilson upped his contributions and became more of a well rounded player.
What bothers me about Wilson is what bothers/bothered me about other players who not only walked on the edge, but crossed it many times with clear intent to injure. His methodology is not much different from that of Matt Cooke. He simply is not as proudly blatant in doing what he does.
Watching him a couple of games ago lay that hit on Brian Dumoulin, made me think about how these hits are interpreted. My interpretation is that Wilson lined him up and hit him in the head from the side. Although it was not a concensus, the HNIC board came out saying it was an unfortunate accident.
When I look at Tom Wilson in the way he plays, and look at his history, I know he was trying to mess Dumoulin up. Like a lot of you, I have been watching Tom Wilson far too long to not know the way he thinks.

These two Vezina finalists are nothing special. Particularly Hellebuyck. So overrated. Hockey has a ton of one hit wonder goalies. All the more reason to appreciate Hank.

The prediction of scoring based on the statistics is fine. I do not denigrate projections, but it is definitely the time to get into some open space and use that shot. Defence is notably tighter in the playoffs. It is Laine's job to get himself into those sweet spots and use that top-5-world shot of his.

Laine needs to lose the Barbossa beard he’s playing like he has the Dead Man’s Chest on his back.

Oops..I posted this in the wrong thread.

There's a hell coaching battle going on in Winnipeg right now.

Maurice is making really smart adjustments just 10 mins into the game that are paying off while Laviolet with a great game plan as well.

Once the Preds got the call on a delayed penalty, not one single player didn't hesitate to haul ass to get back on D.

Systems are really tight on both sides.

Good stuff

I'd be interested to see the map of Laine's shot locations in the playoffs to confirm this post.

Do you have it? I don't.

I bet you'd be surprised.

Anecdotally (no, I admittedly do not have a map of shot locations, which I agree would be interesting) it has looked like he has not found the optimal situations positionally. Not for anything remotely like lack of effort. Jets have been so good this season because they can spread the puck around to various offensive threats, which suits Laine just fine, i.e. opposing team can't cover everyone at one specific time.
So far, to me, Laine is either not getting to those prime spots, or the puck is not getting to him for those opportunities, or combination of.

Yeah, I get where you're coming from, I just have a hard time thinking it's factual considering the numbers we do have available. I can't confirm, it's just my suspicion, that's all.

Well, I could confirm, I just don't feel like doing the work necessary to get the map. Maybe after the playoffs.
