But either way they drafted Andersson under the belief he was the best player available. Sure you may think it was for intangibles but IMHO it was because they liked his two-way game and hockey iq. Also I'd take what Dolan says with a grain a salt hes not all that involved with decisions, he doesnt run this like the knicks. Now if JG came out and said we did this because he wasnt a great captain instead of the fact were rebuilding and rebuilding teams tend to not give a soon to be 30 year old dman a contract with long term and aav then I'd say that is dumb

People forget that, aside from the intangibles, there are things Andersson is better at than the other options they had at 7.

Did you not just harp on us not having elite talent? That would get it for us
Three picks is more likely to get elite talent than one pick.

After 2nd overall, guys are pretty much 50-50 to hit their ceiling. Picks 3-10 are the most overrated thing in hockey.

I don’t actually know if that’s true anymore. Certainly historically, but it seems to be a trend that the top-10 is a surer bet than it once was.

mute "Andersson discussion"
I'm just gonna bow out on Andersson because he's already beyond reproach. No criticism of that pick is even submissible.

Fine by me, I just don't wanna hear "well they're better than us because they've picked high" anymore. Now we're picking high.

I'm just sick of the argument taking over threads all the time. And the argument never goes anywhere.

I happen to think that both sides have their merits and one isn't "more correct" than the other.

But enough about Andersson, and more about Fiala costing me $10.

Kevin Fiala, who surprises everyone by being from Switzerland.

f***. Finally some calm and reasoned agreement. Now, I can go to bed. Until tomorrow, y'all.

Yes, you're right.

But 2015, 2016, and 2017 were massive steps back in terms of the offseason. Gorton gets exactly zero criticism for that.

The Dolan interview was a mess. Maybe he's not involved and I hope he's not, but I vehemently disagreed with every word of it.

But I'm not allowed to bring these things up. The Rangers are perfect and have never made mistakes.

Gorton inherited declining roster. Sometimes you have to take a step back to go 2 steps forward.

Damn straight.

I honestly do not care about the stats any of these Casey, Gabe or Nick’s ever put up. I am under the belief that what Lias can potentially bring, yes, ugh, those intangibles plus his solid production will be worth more to this team than the others people clamor for to this day.

This board is far more critical of the team, players, coach, and GM than they deserve.

Because it's NY. I'm from NJ and living outside of Cleveland for the last few years. I can't fathom how "understanding" Cleveland fans are of their abysmal Browns. NY/NJ fans burned their season tickets when the NY Giants faltered under Ray Perkins. I LOVE it. Fans should be demanding and not take year after year of garbage like Browns fans - well make that Cleveland fans. They do the same for the Indians and Cavs (including welcoming Lebron back when he said FU and went to Miami).

wow 44 votes on Vegas, I believe they will go out in the 2nd round of playoffs, but I admit I`ve not seen many games of Vegas this year.

Lou was always only a way to get Dubas connections anyway.

Has been a pet peeve of mine for the last couple years when people would refer to it as 'Lou's team' or whatnot. Guy was only hired to be a place holder so Dubas could get his feet wet at this level, and I would be very surprised if he enjoyed the autonomy of an average GM.

Wow. I didn't even realize how bad Hendricks was on the GWG last night. Was so focused on Roslovic's bad pinch. Now I'm thinking Roslovic pinched because he thought Hendricks was back-checking, not going for a change.

Wooooooooooof.
