Will fix everything
With what we have been icing for our forward depth I would like to take a chance (although I doubt we will).

Reports out of montreal are basically what we saw in Carolina. Refusal to be coached or to work within a system. Semin would be an upgrade over Gionta, but, our locker room is young enough where we don't need that example.

Reading the main board thread, sounds like hes as used up as gionta is

Not sure where to put this...and isn't its own thread worthy... but this is cool as hell.

Don't want some plug ruining one of my defensemen over a likely icing. NO THANKS. That play was rarely relevant when there was no rule and there was icings most of the time anyways to impact the flow.

Exactly. The hybrid icing rule was long overdue. Glad its here.

I'm not going to post the various tweets, feel free to scan Craig Custance's timeline, but basically the potential expansion draft will be a little different than the most recent one. The current plan, which could of course be altered between now and whenever a draft may occur, includes a minimum salary that each team must have exposed to the draft and would allow for players with NTC and NMC to be exposed however the league will have further discussions with the NHLPA on the latter point.
A list of current players with NTC/NMC in effect for 2017

Should this happen before Moulson's deal is up, it'll be a nice way to get out of that deal when we want to free up salary (and we have top 6 wingers not named Moulson). And it'll help with the whole minimum salary exposure for sure.

(though I could see people get around that by signing guys off the street they don't plan on keeping to larger salary deals and exposing them...I imagine they'll have to plug that loophole in some way)

Antti Niemi now holds some serious bragging rights over his Dallas Stars teammate and fellow Finn Kari Lehtonen.

Cleaning up for Lehtonen on Tuesday night against Carolina, Niemi achieved an ultra-rare feat among goaltenders: earning a win without making a single save.

In fact, among goaltenders who have played at least five minutes in a game, Niemi became the first in at least the last 28 years to record a win without facing a single shot, according to Hockey-Reference.com.

Dallas built a 5-1 lead through the first two frames on Tuesday night, but Carolina roared back in the third period. The Hurricanes scored four consecutive goals, including two from Justin Faulk alone on the power play. Stars coach Lindy Ruff yanked starter Lehtonen after the game-tying goal with 6:43 to play. Niemi entered cold off the bench and the ‘Canes didn’t post a shot on goal. Patrick Sharp netted the game-winner with 19 seconds to go, earning Niemi the win since he entered with a tie score.

Niemi’s anomaly has been duplicated three times, but none played more than two minutes and 32 seconds for the win. Craig Billington has two of them. The only goaltender to play more than 2:33 and not face a shot was Curtis McElhinney - also against Carolina, on March 18, 2014. McElhinney was in net for 16:52 but lost.

LaxSabre - My one fantasy team saids thank you Lindy for making the switch - got a win. Unfortunately on one of my other teams I had Niemi on the bench.
Had Crawford and Howard as starters since well they actually were down as starting last night which they did.
Went 1 for 2 there - Crawford won - Howard lost - in a shootout though so it didn't hurt me as that league doesn't penalize for OT/SO losses.

Pittsburgh Penguins winger Pascal Dupuis’s career is over because of a medical condition related to blood clots, the team announced Tuesday.

Dupuis returned from injury and blood clots this year to play 18 games, but has experienced several recent medical conditions possibly related to his condition, the most recent December 1 against San Jose, the Pens announced.

“Despite playing on a medical protocol that has worked for other players in the NHL, we feel that the risk of Pascal playing with his condition and the side effects of the tests to monitor him are just not in the best interest of his long-term health,” Dr. Dharmesh Vyas, the Penguins’ team physician, said in a team release.

“It was very difficult for me to make this decision to have to step away from the game,” Dupuis said in the team release. “My wife and four children have always been my first priority, and playing with my condition has become a constant worry for all of us. I want to thank my teammates and the Penguins organization for their unwavering support during this difficult time.”

“I feel very badly for Pascal,” Penguins general manager Jim Rutherford said in the team release. “I’ve never seen a man more determined to play and more determined to help his team. Unfortunately, we’ve reached the point where it’s not in the best interest of his health to allow him to do that anymore.”

Dupuis will finish with 190 goals and 409 points in 871 career games split between the Penguins, Atlanta Thrashers, New York Rangers, and Minnesota Wild.
The Penguins will place Dupuis on long-term injured reserve.

Sabres coach Dan Bylsma on Dupuis retirement - "I congratulate him on a great career and having fought through it and been a really good teammate."
"I know he's disappointed stepping away ... but congratulations on a great career. He did a lot of great things as a player."

Draisaitl is amazing. His skating is explosive. Stokes you were definitely right about him.

Yes he's talented. Yes he's playing on a line with who again? :sarcasm:

In my book ... Overall, still not better than Ekblad and Reinhart. Of course the knee jerk reactionaries will disagree because pointzzzzzz.

I don't think anybody really said he was a bad player and wasn't going to be good. The thing that was debated was that he should've been Buffalo's pick. Right now, he probably should've been but it's still too early to judge, though I still say we were right in choosing Reinhart.

Both guys had issues with skating. Draisaitl was the more physically developed player in terms of strength. Right now, you can see that is paying dividends. His major issue was skating and now that he has improved that, everything is coming together. He's without a doubt a good player.

Reinhart still needs to catch up with the strength.

Today, advantage is Draisaitl.

Very courageous article. It's tough to talk about those kinds of experiences. Hopefully it helps some of those who are currently being abused.

That last few paragraphs at the end, where he talks about how he didn't come forward and write that for his dad, but for the people in the parking lot who saw what was happening and didn't intervene. If that hits home for anyone who sees a situation where they suspect abuse, and gives them the nudge they need to act, yeah. Even if not, maybe some kids who are in a similar situation read that and call the police themselves, or at least have an example to point to and think "I can get through this."

Such a heartbreaking story, but I'm glad he's telling it.
