Plus it takes them 10 times longer than it should to replace them since construction companies clearly have no deadline they have to adhere to. Really good at setting up pilons for no apparent reason though.
They should be working on them 24/7 if the weather is okay. Why aren't they? The costs wouldn't be that much more.

The thing is, PLD's actually pretty good when he wants to be. But he doesn't always seem to want to be. It's not a bad risk for the Caps. I don't think he's washed.
That's a fair chunk of you cap for the next 7 years.
PLD can dominate but for whatever reason, he doesn't do it very oftern at all.
Blake should be fired.

I agree, we've all seen what he could be if he was invested in consistently playing his best hockey.

However, even after being traded to LA (one of his preferred teams/cities) he wasn't able to put it together on a nightly basis. WSH doesn't have to worry about the cap as much so it could be a great trade for them if he shows up.

Guy is a mystery, I didn't think he would perform as poorly as he did last season.

perhaps difficulty first season w/ a new team? his PPG this year was similar to his 1st season here

You never know I guess but Blake decided the risk was too high so it was time to cut his losses. The initial trade was the mistake.

That's the thing with that guy

It seems like all he has to do is figure out how (or whether or not he wants to) flip the switch and he has the potential to make us all say "holy shit, I can't believe the Caps got him for just Kuemper"

He's such an enigma... the upside he flashes when he's engaged is significant

Then again, you'd think he'd have done it by now if he was going to

The scouts who ranked PLD, Laine, Juolevi and Pulujarvi above Tkachuk should all be fired.

Imagine the Jets if we'd grabbed McAvoy or Sergachev at 2nd overall...

Chevy would have been ran out of town if he took one of those guys at #2, Laine was one of the greatest teenage goalscorers in NHL history and had an argument to go 1st overall pre-draft.

Not arguing that just looking at how rankings are flawed... ie PLD jumping from 10 to 4

The value of D has skyrocketed... teams now realize they have to develop unless your vegas or nyr

Laine had immense potential and even started off hot in the league making us all think we had a goalscoring superstar on our hands..Then he just fizzled out. Oh what could have been.

Pretty bad for both LA and PLD
Kinda surprised he didn't have some trade protection blocking this after he was so adamant to go to LA
Won’t massive shitty contracts be traded for each other eventually? Hope a player rebounds. Every year the same 4 or 5 players get moved around.

PLD didn’t make the list. PLD for Geadreau (Columbus)would be a real zinger.

He got traded out of Winnipeg and to a desired destination, he got the money he wanted and yet he still hasn't decided if he is willing or wants to play the way he needs to be successful in the NHL.
I think "willing" is something subjective in PLD's case. Something's not right with that guy unfortunately. Its a bit nasty as he is gifted all the tools. Imagine a guy like Brandon Tanev with PLD's build.
