It's going to be an interesting couple of weeks for the Flames as they are getting themselves into the playoff fight and they have let it be known the UFA's Tanev and Hanifin are available.

I’m still clinging to hope on my “oilers miss playoffs” prop so yeah I think I’d like to see Calgary sneak in.

Hey look Skinner keeping his team in it! Lol

Oilers score, Flames still 99%+ to win.

“Oilers keeping it interesting!”

Like it’s not just professional self-interest, I really do wish commentators were barred from saying stupid shit like this and just put a live money line next to the scoreboard.

We were led to believe that the Jets were a wagon. Not just the big winning streak in December, but how they were winning. Dominant. Controlling the play. Lockdown defense. Ice tilting 4 lines.

Now we look like we're losing but we're winning again (to reverse paraphrase Gordon Lightfoot).

Are you calling Sundown on the 2023-4 Winnipeg Jets!!!???

I don't think it's reasonable to expect that kind of performance for 82 games.

It's not reasonable to expect every game to be a win, but I think it is reasonable to expect generally consistent effort and execution of the gameplan once the team has figured it out. An off night here and there or a few mini slumps are fine, but the Jets have been trending in the wrong direction for more than a month.

It also seems somewhat self-inflicted...I feel like there was better line balance when Connor was injured.

Your middle paragraph is correct not just for our team but for every team. "When I win, it's skill; when I lose, it's bad luck" is a mental deathtrap I've seen countless otherwise promising poker players fall into, and I honestly think it applies in pro sports too. It's why focusing on "the process" and "the inputs" is so important.
Or, in the case of many HFJets posters, it seems that the mentality is "when Jets win, it's luck; when Jets lose its because of garbage effort/garbage team".
