What is the story behind Ladd and the fishing trip? Is it something he committed to years ago and still does?
Ladd probably still has a good relationship with Chevy (Stanley Cup winners), his legacy in Winnipeg as the first captain for Jets 2.0. And I'm pretty sure his foundation spear headed by his wife (had/has an optometrist practice here) supports charities in the city.

1 year 4 m for Foligno with the Hawks

Well they do need to reach the cap floor.

Yeah, he's also now actually able to help the org as he no longer is under contract by an NHL team. I definitely wouldn't have any issue with him doing more work for the org.

Nope.

He and his family have been involved in charities here for a while and he did a lot of appearance work also.

He's a smart guy and committed hard to the market and city. Again, were the Jets to invest in an advisory & ambassadorial wing to the org I can see Ladd, Little and others as potential hires.

That's basically negative value when you consider the 50% retained vs 6th round pick's dollar value.

I mean if we can get Sanheim for that price the I say go for it. Cap space is king these days
Using cap space to pick up deals is the main reason I was ok if the Jets traded PLD/Scheif/Helle for futures. You can get a ton of future assets, and use the cap space to also fill out your roster. And it's possible to do it and not end up with garbage, but decent players that no longer fit another org (like Sanheim, Garland, etc). You have to be a first mover though, and be a team with the cap space available at the right time.

I think the wrinkle with the Jets will be, if we get GB and AI for PLD, we're really not reducing any salary. (I like the trade though because GB is a future as well as present asset). So depending on possible Helle and MS deals, it will be interesting to see A) how much cap space we end up with, and B) do we make the deals early enough so that we have the space available when other players are available. It doesn't do us a ton of good to move MS and CH at the end of the summer when there aren't those other deals to be made.

Sanheim specifically is hard to gauge our interest and fit because he's not a specific need on the left (he'd be better than most besides JoMo for sure, but we have depth there). I think he's played some on the right, but we'd have to move Pionk or Schmidt, and then are we the ones paying to do that?

In case anyone wants to see whom voted for who...

I got Ken Wiebe down for a Parayko vote -- in any category.

In all seriousness though as a Jets fan -- interesting to see which way the hockey writer winds blow.

Hayes was ok here. Maurice just didn't use him enough. Dude for some reason gets crapped on but for the minutes Maurice played him, he was decent but Maurice didn't play him enough. Prob a room thing
