My thought exactly!!Why is a shitty team like the Hawks getting a game like this? Gotta go for a matchup of teams where the game will actually matter to both.

You skipped over Brady.Yes, particularly Stutzle and Sanderson, we'll be as good as they become
Best core is wishful thinking though, no? I mean, Point, Kucherov, Hagel or Matthews, Nylander and Marner... Barkov, Reinhart, Tkachuk... hard to beat
That said, as many teams have shown it's not just about the top players. If not, Oilers would already have Cups. This is not basketball, you need to have a full team stacked with quality.
Like with Connor Brown when he left, did we compare with the guy who only played 4 games that season? We are comparing the replacement with what WE HAD. I'd much rather have what we had in Joseph than what we have in Amadio. Would Joseph still be as good IF he stayed here? Of course it's up in the air but don't see why not.
Every single team have or will have high end talent... I don't think we'll be able to distance ourselves with Sanderson/Stutzle/Tkachuk... need to have a lot more depth
For Montreal, it's clearly Suzuki-Caufield-Hutson right now, even though Montembault is the true hero IMO.
Really, I think long term it's really Detroit and Boston I am the less worried about. For Tampa, it has gotta stop at some point, but Kucherov, Point, Hedman, Hagel, Guentzel, Cirelli, Vasilevskiy... damn so much game changing talent.
Right?!?! Makes no sense to me even though they're a popular original 6 team. I turned it on for about 5 minutes and moved on.My thought exactly!!
You're built different than me. When its TML vs MTL, I never know who to cheer against, and when they matched up in the playoffs a few years back, it felt so awkward because I just wanted both teams to do so bad lolSeriously. f*** the Habs above all else. I'll even cheer for the Leafs over the Habs if it comes to that.
Ya, where you live can be the difference. I'm sure it's a bit of a fluid situation that could just as easily flip for me, I just really REALLY grew to hate the Habs and their fans during our last couple playoffs rounds against them. Losing to them infuriated me more than I'd felt since the last Leafs playoff loss. The rivalry feels fresher mostly. It's been kind of dead against Toronto for a long while with no playoff series' and them only ever falling on their faces anyways. You're built different than me. I guess if I really had to, I'd cheer against TML more than MTL in another hypothetical playoff series. If MTL wins the cup, I won't be affected by the celebrations. But as a GTA dweller, my surrounding infrastructure can't handle TML having playoff success lol
For how long? The rest of this year?but seriously, I'll stop talking about them completely
Guys gonna have an aneurysm not being able to sneak them into any conversation he canFor how long? The rest of this year?
Not the marquee match up needed to "grow the game".Right?!?! Makes no sense to me even though they're a popular original 6 team. I turned it on for about 5 minutes and moved on.
It's you. YOU need to stop talking about the Habs. Can we stop talking about the Habs lol? it's criminal here
It took the full 365 days, but I think we found our post of the yearI wonder if there's a guy on the Habs board that's obsessed with the Sens?
Or alternatively and more optimistic, we should be talking about Ottawa moving into Boston’s current playoff spot. They are 4 points ahead of us, but we have 3 games in hand.We should be talking about how much Pittsburgh needs to f*** off away from our playoff spot
It might be the same guy.I wonder if there's a guy on the Habs board that's obsessed with the Sens?
This Winter "Classic" is an all-time turd!! {explosive fart noise here}
This such a dumb argument since 4 games isn't enough to judge how he's playing and he had a career altering injury. No such thing happened to Joseph.
Watch Joseph, judge how good he's playing. It's really not that hard. He was overated last year because of a hot start that wasn't sustainable (over 18% on ice sh % and a GF/60 that more than doubled the expected over his first 16 games), otherwise a pedestrian player, not bad but nothing special.
It was evident he was going to regress statistically this year, though I'll admit he exceeded my expectations in terms of how bad he's be,
You skipped over Brady.
I have this vague memory that Connor Brown asked to be moved, am I misremembering that? He required a new contract, so just keeping him would have expired without another buy in from him.
So what you’re saying is,
The girl in red, is the habs
You’re the guy admiring them
The other girl, is the rest of the Sens forum, going what the f***
Seriously. f*** the Habs above all else. I'll even cheer for the Leafs over the Habs if it comes to that.

It's you. YOU need to stop talking about the Habs.
You have no idea how Joseph would perform under a completely different coach in Green, so here or not the butterfly effect remains, assuming he'd play the same as last year if he stayed here is just as big of a leap as he'd play the same as he has in StL. Claiming the brown comparison is just illustrating the butterfly effect is just a false equivalency. The point had nothing to do with all this though but more with the "butterfly effect". If Brown was not traded, he probably wouldn't have suffered this injury. That's why I am not looking at Brown and what he did once he left but the known quality of what he was doing here.
What you find DUMB is for me the reality of the world of gravity I live in. Connor would have been in a different time and space point if he was never traded.
I am not watching the Blues, caught a few periods there and there, he was injured I think. I found Joseph was a lot more impactful last season (just the PK is a big part) than Amadio has been. But it's ok, just like Tierney, Amadio is not my kind of player at all. But that's the thing, it's really not about Joseph anymore, it is that I wish we invested the money on Perron + Amadio differently. My problem with the Joseph departure is more spending the 3rd round pick, right after previous management dilapidated a ton of assets.
It's like you can't talk about things here without them being linked to something else. I initially said that "Both Perron and Amadio signings are clearly not working out so far, 2 goals, 10 pts in 42 games for 6.6 AAV"
Yeah, he's an impact forward but I don't find he's in the same tier as the other guys named. I know I tried to defend Brady in the Marner vs Tkachuk thread but that was with cap hits included. Without contracts in consideration, I have no choice to admit Brady is not the same level, particularly if you stats looking at defensive play. I think it's one thing holding him back.
A lot of that I remember, but I also have this memory of a media member saying he was apparently approached with a contract extension and he told the team he planned to go to market the next year. Thought Booboo had floated that out there. All I can find now is reddit threads discussing that as if it were a known fact at the time, so can't back it up or anything. Nor could we trust info coming from the organization at the time since they were such a disaster. He did not. We traded him before the season started and he was UFA at the end of the year. He was due for a new contract but they could’ve kept him for the year.
That’s the year Formenton didn’t come back and people were pretty mad that Dorion traded him not considering that we would’ve needed him with the little depth that we had. Paul was also swapped for Joseph at the deadline the year prior. I assume Dorion took that Joseph would replace Brown at a lower cost. Brown was looking at a 4-5M per year contract over 4-6 years at that point. Injuries in the subsequent year really changed his course.
We had added Debrincat and Giroux during that offseason as well.
The Brown trade was simply made because Dorion added other pieces that theoratically made Brown expandable. Had Formenton played it would not have been an issue. Just a lack of foresight there. Otherwise Brown would’ve been gone at the deadline or left as a FA in the offseason.. so in the grand schems of things it was a non-issue.
Really hope Pittsburgh doesn't do what Washington did last year and squeeze into the playoffs. We should be talking about how much Pittsburgh needs to f*** off away from our playoff spot
Really hope Pittsburgh doesn't do what Washington did last year and squeeze into the playoffs.
NHL would love it, especially if the caps and pens play in the first round, it'd be one last chance to see two legends face off.
Screw the Pens though, they've had enough success and can continue being in no man's land for another decade.
