3. Beating a well-rested two-time defending champion

Everyone's going to say the series proves that high flying offense doesn't work in the playoffs, and that may or may not be true, but I think it really proves that winning 3 on 3 (something the Panthers did 13 times this year on top of their three shootout wins) has no performance indications towards the playoffs.

Perron has always been a good player wherever he has been.


he has been a good consistent 40 50 point player and a shoot first mentality. Surprisingly Perron has not scored 30 goals in any of his NHL seasons. Very shocking.

Panthers were a regular season team if I’ve ever seen one. Not surprised they got swept by Tampa

We did play them very well in the regular season, but as we've seen, the playoffs are very different. We gave up 4 goals in 4 games to Pittsburgh this year, and then couldn't stop them from scoring in the playoffs. Carolina dominated us in the regular season, but we've played them well so far in the playoffs.

We're somewhat similar but obviously not there yet. Hopefully we are learning what it takes to win
