Trading Miller for a king's ransom has always been the most obvious attempt to sucker a team into being saddled with a terrible contract on a fraudulent player that is a negative 50 point defensive player that has a selfish streak. He may have reworked his image into one of passion and fire but on any well ran organization with a strong leadership group, you don't need guys like that. You want to avoid guys like that. He may be a 99 or 100 point player but it's very very different from the 60 Couturier puts up. Miller would have to put up 150 points to equal 80-90 from Mika.

Enjoyable pathetic home opener by the Devils.

Really not buying some of the HF rhetoric about their ‘dark horse’ team. That D sucks. I’ll keep saying it until I see different. Hamilton and Siegenthaler are pushed as these analytic darlings, but whatever. Collectively they’re weak. And no, their current centers don’t help the situation at all.

But Dom L said they’re better than the rangers

I’ve been a Devils fan since I was 11 until tonight. Simply put, they are a team content with being bottom five on an annual basis. If a team that I’ve put so much time, money, and emotion into isn’t going to put a modicum of effort in return, what choice do I have?

LET’S GO RANGERS!!!!!!!!

How about signing Tomas Hickey to a contract who just had a PTO for the Devils and wants signed? Can't be worse than Libor Hajek?

Miles Wood said he was tired of losing after NJ lost the season opener, then apologized for it, then they lost again tonight. He wasn't wrong in his initial comment. The Devils have missed the playoffs 9 out of the last 10 seasons and the one year they did make it they lost in the first round.

Non story. Good on Miles. Can only wish that every player cared like that.

Miller has been on the ice for every single goal against the Canucks this season (8)

I think the same. If their goaltending improved it gets them close but it just seems like they're not well built as an entire unit. It might be a matter of coaching or strategy but right now they look awful.
