I remember Drew Shore. Same draft as Trocheck I believe. My buddy was a big fan of Shore and we used to go back and forth about who would have a better career between him and Trocheck.

they were thin up front as it was and that was with poitras as a contributor. he's in the A now because he had nothing going on.
i watch bits of their games and right now, they just look broken. last night, at 0-2, they just couldn't make/catch a pass. it was sloppy, ugly hockey. when you're losing like they've been losing and you watch their big guys making these uncharacteristic plays, you have to start wondering if something's going on there.
i would not be surprised if they chucked monty for a season reboot if they don't turn things around fast. there are issues with the roster construction, but they have spent quite a bit of money and they fill the arena every night with fans expecting more. they may not have come into the season thinking they had a cup contender but i very much doubt they would accept missing the playoffs in such an ignominious manner.
EDIT: i posted before seeing the news... must have broken as i was composing.

Also, was panned by @FinlandPanther when commenting that the devils impressed me with their pace and skill and how much trouble that gave us. The weekly PDOCast talked about that 2-game set and they had the same impression.

Gotta imagine Sweeney is gone at the end of this season.
And frankly Montgomery will have another job soon. He didn’t get it done in the playoffs but he’s probably a top-16 coach in the league imo

Agreed. I don't think that the Broons have a playoff team in their hands, more like a team ripe for a rebuild (which can't be thoroughly rebuilt due to lengthy contracts). This is actually a blessing for Monty who's now getting paid to stay at home.
Actually wanted Monty when the Panthers were interviewing for coaches and ended up going with Boughner.
He's got sources with the team staff.

I wouldn’t say you were panned lol. Just think we didn’t play well. The Devils have skill but wilt when you get physical. We just didn’t do that.

The Panthers have phoned in every game except for one since coming back from Finland. Team could easily be looking at 1-4 out of that slate right now if not for Nashville getting the worst goaltending on the planet and Philly just being bad.
Not gonna take that away from the teams that are beating them, though. Win's a win.

i agree, we were a step slow but they weren't real stinkers. the PDO guys though watch a lot of hockey though and it's not like they don't know both teams yet they still had the same impression.

The rumor is that this is related to a nagging injury he has been dealing with (wrist?) and this is basically a way for him to heal up and get his head on straight while the team doctors can avoid admitting that they maybe let him come back and play too soon.

Guys like Coyle, Zacha, Geekie, Lindholm are having terrible starts. They also have too much of the same player ...just average, not super-talented two-way guys. The goaltending covered it up partly last season, but now there's no security blanket. Swayman is average, the D looks bad including Charlie McOverrated, and the F aren't scoring. I think they'll probably still make the playoffs this season, but they might be a bubble team for a few years.

They have a lot of speed. Our whole mantra is to make other teams uncomfortable and dismantle then by smothering them and applying pressure all over the ice. The Devs speed made it hard for us to do that, they had a good gameplan for us. We didn't play our best, but still no team has made us look that bad this year when we weren't on our A game.
The Devils are a skilled hockey team no doubt. But they remind me a lot of us when we didn’t play “playoff hockey”. When the space tightens up their small little stars wilt.like disparaged better?
