They're playing again like they played two years ago, when Brunette was their assistant. They stretch the ice a lot and have good team speed, it's going to be very effective in the regular season. The playoffs will be different though, I don't think they're constructed or their style fits well against a defensive team like us.

That fan base truly is in the gutter of sports right now with their team. Just two games in but they were severely outplayed in both. Would surprise no one if they continue their nhl record streak of missing the playoffs.

Probably because he was the coach the last time they were relevant when they were actually a pretty good hockey team. Think they won presidents trophy this was like back in 07 or something. They had Miller, Briere, Vanek and even Brian Campbell lol
Remember it was one of the games I went to see that year at the arena when I lived in South Florida.

Really surprised we couldnt get a deal done with Lorentz given what he signed for with the Leafs, almost seems like we decided there were better options out there? Will be interesting to see how the new guys compare once the season gets going...

Boqvist and Greer have essentially replaced Lorentz/Okposo and Lombo. Not as physically dominating as a whole but much more offensive upside there. It's just a different look. We still have Gadjovich if need be and Giles, so we still have some meat and potatoes if we need it.

I think like Maurice said, Boqvist will be a real good Swiss army knife player for us. I really like the potential upside of that contract. It was probably necessary too as a hedge in case Samoskevich is not ready.
