With about 30% of the season played, here are the top-3 teams who have surprised me the MOST.

Clearly better than I expected (I didn’t think they’d be above 0.700):
Washington
Winnipeg
Minnesota

Clearly worse than I expected (I didn’t think they’d be below 0.500):
Nashville
Pittsburgh
Ottawa

Minnesota has done a great job at drafting and building a strong team internally. They nail the draft every single year. The Faber trade was also huge for them. I thought Winnipeg would be a playoff team, but not this good, but they are starting to slip. Obviously, you can't stay that hot all season. But they have a lot of depth and 4 good lines. The PLD trade set them up nicely. Guys like Perfetti and Heinola also coming into their own.
Washington is the biggest surprise. McClellan has done a great job there the last few years. Another strong drafting team, and Chychrun for Jensen was a massive upgrade for them. Of course, Ovi having a resurgence helps.

Mason Marchment with a pretty cool goal.

Also surprised to see he has the 2nd most points on Dallas with 24 points in 22 games. Is on track to have a season comparable to his 2021-22 campaign with us, good for him.

It will be hilarious when those 4 nation idiots choose a lot of our roster to add miles to those legs

Barky, Lundy, Lousty, and Mikkola

Chucky

Forsling

Reinhart and Verhaeghe with Ekky and Bennett invited to be extras

Half the line up pretty much

Lightning
Tallying

Shesterkin looks really shaky again tonight. Rangers could be in serious trouble.

caught the intermission and valiquette was commenting that since we beat them, they are the worst defensive team in the league by a good margin. said shesterkin "looked lost" and wouldn't be surprised if he was pulled in the 3rd. of course, he looks lost because the team isn't playing in front of him. he's gone from the best goalie on the planet in october to trash in november.

Amazing that relying on special teams and otherworldly goaltending isn't sustainable.

There is a belief that Reino and Benny will be on Team Canada.

First, thats awesome for Benny. However, that sucks for us. Thats a lot of guys having to play extra games. And will Benny wallop any of our guys? lmao

Barky, Lousty, Lundy, Mikkola

i hadn't realized it but the PDOcast guys were talking about how much zibenijad has fallen off. they could be in long-term trouble if he can't regain the step he's lost.

I mean he's 32.... and he doesn't seem like the most motivated guy to begin with . Last season could well have been their zenith with this group, at least for awhile . They do have some good prospects in their system, but they might have to move some stale blood out to change things up there.

Colorado sucks...just a few years ago, they were "destined for 3 or 4 more Cups".

Their roster is really good, especially with Landy in it, but they just have no goaltending.
