Around the League

I just noticed Chris and Cam Abbott are no longer with Rogle and are part of Carolina’s org now. It would have been nice to bring them in. They were awesome at developing prospects in Sweden.

Just read elswhere the last time the leafs won a cup, was the last time Boston and Detroit missed the play offs in the same year, please, Wings don't let it happen.
I can't see them going far with that roster construction, namely the defence. Pittsburgh is the only team I've seen take it all with a highly suspect backline. And Toronto's top forwards are not in the Crosby/Malkin echelon.

Something tells me the Panthers will have lost four straight when they play us Sunday.
Dammit.

Yep but this was the big one
Ball-busting aside, absolutely. It's a record that no one thought would ever be broken. I'm not a Gretzky fan either but he seems like one of the most stoked people to see this happen.

not to downplay what Ovechkin's done here at all(I genuinely think it's incredibly impressive, and also scoring goals is harder nowadays than it was in the 80s it just is) but Gretzky's assist records were always way more unbreakable than his goal ones, he's not really all that far off straight up having double what second place does there plus there's of course that famous stat about him having more assists than anyone else having points

back to Ovechkin though, something that makes this even more impressive than it already would be is how much it feels like he still has left in the tank even today at 39 years old, I honestly think he could probably pass a thousand goals if he really wanted to(not that I think he will, it would require him playing 2-3 more seasons after this one and I just don't think he'll do that)
