I would dump Backes, Oshie, Ott, Bouweester, and maybe even Jackman and build around their younger players. Allen is salvageable. They just need to stop beating their heads against the wall every April and realize what they got ain't working
 
As much as it has sucked to not make the playoffs I feel like it would have been worse to get knocked out in the first round.

I still think LA could have done damage once in, next year will prove if this year is the beginning of the end or an aberration.

One season of Calgary being annoying doesn't overshadow my desire to see the ducks eliminated.
 
Backes is a fine 2C. The worst thing St Louis did was sign Stastny. Just a terrible move. They went quantity over quality which is always a mistake.

They need a culture change. The bigger the games get, the easier they unravel. Goaltending as usual was a revolving gong show.

Blues need a legit 1C (which won't happen), two more explosive offensive players that can individually change games (hello Gaborik, Carter, Toffoli, Pearson), and a de facto #1 goalie. Lots of holes.

Until they get all of those they aren't a true contender. But hey, winning polls on HFBoards is still worth something, right?

Nope. As a defending champion, anything is better than missing the playoffs.

I have/am. It has been an interesting series. The Dolts really aren't a very good team when it comes to team play. A bunch of talented individuals playing together but it looks more like beer league then most anything else most of the time. The Wings look good for spurts but then they look like they are looking for someone to blame the rest of the time. Interesting hockey.
 
Garbage officiating in Washington, DC. Cross check in the back by Ovechkin puts Hickey into the end boards and no call. The Caps score the go ahead goal about a minute later.

Me too. They can't expect to win all those games year after year being down two goals like this year. They got so many favorable bounces the entire second half of the season , something many of the teams didn't get. It would not surprise me if they miss the playoffs next season, and have a season like the Avs did after they overachieved and won the division.
 
Watching Tyler Johnson for Tampa Bay makes me wonder if Weal could be our Johnson-lite.
