I see that Alex Pietrangelo continues to be a non factor in the playoff's.

6GP 0G 2A 2P ( his last series)

This guy is so overrated.

26GP 2G 10A 12P +3 Total for mister overrated.

76GP 16G 34A 50P +1 = Drew Doughty. (playoffs)

Pietrangelo is a microcosm of the Blues - grossly overrated.

Olympics -

Doughty - 6GP/4G/2A/6P/+4
Pietrangelo - 6GP/0G/1A/1P/+4

Jake Muzzin almost matched his stats this year.

So Tarasenko scores Six goals in a series, and the Blues still bow out in Six games...LOL.

I would hate to be a Blues fan.

The Blues are just a joke when it comes to the playoffs. All bluster and bravado but can't find any way to finish. Consistent though, they seem to get two victories before choking very often. APie is truly a shadow of Doughty and the other few elite D around the game. Simply over rated. A very good #2 but not a #1 by any means.

I can't wait for next year when the Blues tear up the regular season again and all the analysts say how they are a legit cup contender when they still have no goaltending and below average centers

You should cut and paste this post every year for the next 4 or 5 years. Don't change a thing. Lots of Blues fans seem to still think that APie is better than Doughty. Such a sad thing.

Doughty will be a Hall of Famer. The comparisons need to end because there is no comparison. Doughty is simply one of the best players on the planet.

Oops! Wrong player, wrong team.

Their fans will be saying that before than when they get a new coach/ trade for a player/ or sign a UFA. They did this exact thing with Statsny this offseason

Can you really blame them though? They're fans. There's no reason to get emotionally(and/or financially) invested in corporate logo's and strangers making a lot of money if you don't think, at least somewhere in the back of your mind, that this will be the year they win. It's a giant waste of time otherwise.

If you read the playoff board, Blues fans were saying Pietrangelo was their best player the entire series. It was supported by the "Even Wild fans are saying that!" bit of evidence. When you're the best player on the ice, supposedly, you have to actually make a tangible impact on both ends of the ice. Not just Corsi, but actual goals and assists for your team.

Yeah, but they take it a little too far for my liking.
In 2012, their excuse was King's hit on AP and that they were "in every game" despite losing game 2 by multiple goals (despite being swept)
In 2013, they were "in every game" and the "series could have gone either way "(despite being reverse swept)
In 2014 they were "in every game" and the "series could have gone either way "(despite being reverse swept)

That's why I was happy to see them go out early again. Some of those same clowns were saying the Kings weren't all that good anyway in hindsight during the Cup runs using this season's failure to make the playoffs as evidence. Kings just "got hot" in the playoffs...repeatedly.

Just fan rationalization. That's going to happen all the time, anywhere you go.

It's a frustrated fan base. These years were supposed to be their time. Now not only did the Kings and Hawks win, but they've been beaten by the Wild in similar fashion, and even the Flames have gotten to the 2nd round. It's like back in the late 90's, when the Blues were the 4th team in a 3 team conference. 25 consecutive years or whatever it was of making the playoffs, never getting beyond the 3rd round, and barely beyond the 2nd. They're the one team that had an established Chris Pronger on the blueline that didn't get to at least the Cup Final.

Now they've got an uncertain future, with a disappointing past. Not a fun place to be.

Goaltending was a factor this year. I mean some of those goals Allen let in were awful but the bigger problem with the Blues is they have a bunch of good players, but no great players. There is nobody on that team that is clutch. They scored one goal in two games and got shut out once. You aren't going to win many games doing that. While the focus is on the goalie, that really isn't the problem. All of their centers are 2nd or 3rd liners on a contender. I really don't even think Hitchcock is the issue. The roster is the issue. Hitchcock is merely showing you can't squeeze blood from a turnip.

Who would you bring in for a Goalie if you're St. Louis? Not a lot out there better than who've they got.
I agree with the good not great players. I think it was last year that an announcer said something similar. basically that when the goalie is pulled and you need 1 goal to tie it up they have no true "go to guy". I think that's who Statsny was supposed to be, but boy did that no work out. Taresenko will be that guy though.
