Would obviously be great if Draisatl is suspended, but Barkov being back 100% is the most important. I don't think the Coilers can come back against a fully healthy Panthers team.

Also, hopefully Nurse is healthy enough to play his usual >20 minutes of ice time.

Lol - Drai is not getting suspended. He's gonna have a target on his head, quite literally, if Barkov has a concussion.

And yeah not a surprise if the NHL is waiting on Barkov's results - little do they know that even if he doesn't have a concussion,.a head impact that he experienced markedly increased his risk of a concussion from a far less serious impact. That's one of the main problems about basing suspensions off of the injury outcome as opposed to the illegality of the play.

How this league continues to get things wrong is hilariously embarassing.

He’ll have a target on him concussion or not. That was a dirty hit the big guns on the oilers need to keep their heads up for the remainder of the series.

This is the NHL, bunch of dipshits get hired to the positions. George Parros is a scrub who got in charge of player safety.

Come on now.
There's only one reason I had hope that it might actually happen and it's not because of fairness or common sense.

Gregory James Campbell (born December 17, 1983) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey centre and current Assistant General Manager of the Florida Panthers.[1] He was drafted by the Panthers in the third round, 67th overall, in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft. Campbell is the son of former NHL player and current NHL Director of Hockey Operations Colin Campbell.

Absolute f***ing crock of shit that he doesn't even get a game. Watch the Oilers rally around this and tie the series.

They've been getting breaks their way all playoffs long. Soucy conveniently suspended, Demko out, Boeser gets a blood clot, Hintz and Tanev go down in the WCF, and now Barkov who has been destroying them gets taken out.

League wants their darlings in a longer series for more revenue.

As we all knew. Clear difference this time around was the media across the nation didn't blow this out of proportion and it didn't gain mainstream traction.

Going to take a guess he's not going to Edmonton. Game 5 is one week from now and I can see them putting him in if his symptoms have improved.

Here's hoping Florida can get a split in Edmonton. Time for Tkachuk and Reinhart to step up.

Paul Maurice pretty much said 'over and done with'. This guy has this team motivated for the cup, not nonsense on what the league should or shouldn't do. If all else, this should fire up the Panthers, this is a well coached team and distractions like this isn't gonna phase him.

That's the smart thing to do, but it requires a big push from Tkachuk and Reinhart. Barkov is a massive, massive loss. It's the equivalent of Demko going down, maybe even moreso because you're missing both his scoring ability and the fact that he's completely shut down their top line.

There is no confirmation that Barkov is out, and based on what Maurice has said, I think he will be in.

I also think if he was definitely out then the DOPS would have suspended Draisaitl.

Look guys, we all know that the NHL follows a certain set of protocols as drawn out in the following flow charts

There's clear video evidence that Connor McJesus died on the cross(-check) because of Soucy, therefore, Soucy had to serve a one-game suspension according to the above flow chart.

Sure, McJesus was resurrected in time for Game 4 of the Canucks - Oilers series, but that was after the suspension was handed out, so it's okay.

Quite frankly, Soucy should consider himself lucky he didn't get an extra three games for mistakingly wearing a Canucks uniform while stick-checking McJesus. I assume that's how Aaron Rome got his extra three back in 2011 when he hit Nathan Horton while Horton was admiring his pass...but I digress.

Today was the day for the 2 teams to fly out. Did Barkov make the flight?

This postseason is reminding me why I nearly stopped watching the sport in 2011.

The agenda here from the league and backed up by the media is to give the king his crown and get McDavid a Cup because it's good for the sport for the best player to be seen winning championships and have a Gretzky 1984 or Lemieux 1991 moment. And to hell with actual consistency or integrity if it gets in the way of that.

No suspension is par for the course. Trouba tied to take guys heads off and got nothing, Bennet got nothing, so not surprised.

The NHL needs to do a better job of taking care of its players, full stop. At some point players need to be held responsible for their actions if they cause harm, especially on hits to the head.

You'd think in 2024, with all the data we have on concussions, that the league would try to do better and do right by the players family's. Instead, we're more worried about public discourse and making sure that at least one star player is out there.

Just terribly dissapointing.

Bruce Boudreau with some incredibly idiotic take on the hit...

Well, if NHL isn't gonna do anything, it's open season on all players. Will it take someone leaving the ice with a trail of blood and cerebral spinal fluid before players safety department realize that they are a bunch of gimpy wuss?
