18 years of 50 goal average. Or 20 years with 46 or something average. Plus, Ovy has only missed like 50 something games that he could have played up to this season. Like 2.5 games per season before this year and like 1/3 of them were what suspension or Covid related.
Only possibility it seems is if a future era of the game is super high scoring and many players score 60 goals a season. And thats impossible to predict so unless that happens I think is safe to say his record is safe
Really can't predict health, which is the one thing every elite player needs. Sid with concussions, Orr with knees, Kariya his concussions, Mario his back & cancer, etc.

In his entire career Ovechkin has missed only 67 games due to injury/illness/suspension. He's also averaged 20:37 of ice time per game.
We saw Edmonton turn it on last season in the playoffs and I think they can do it again if they're reasonably healthy, but I'm not sure they are. McDavid and Draisaitl both look really banged up. But let's be honest, if they have enough left to play at a high level we know from experience this team has as many gears as they need to win any series.
For Edm. They need to get healthy. 9 point lead on cal in division for 3 spot. Rest the top guys to get back to 100%.

How much more can that franchise ask of McDavid and Drai? I don’t think they have another run in them. It literally took every ounce of McDavid’s soul to push them to a cup final. That isn’t happening again. Edmonton just isn’t deep enough
