Chicago desperately needs to target someone like John Tavares in UFA who can help him out in the short-term.

Says top 13 protected. I've seen trades where the club has the option to keep the pick or transfer it over if it is within the protected range (have to decide like 48 hours before the draft or something) IIRC.

NHL.com is saying it just transfers over to 2026.
