wow Lunkvist got a 1st and a conditional pick for the rangers. Good job by them considering he refused to report to camp. Kinda shocked by the return.
I know he is not going anywhere now that he is signed, but it does make me wonder what Durzi's value is. 2023 is a deep draft and I think if Blake could have got a first for him he should have done so. Even if LA had to ad the 4th rounder.
Glad Durzi is a king and will be routing for him, so hope it does not come across that i am not.

I think its a really good trade for the Rangers and an ok one for Dallas. I see Dallas as being a middle of the pack/playoff bubble team so this pick could be anywhere from 11 to 20. Nice job for them making sure they don't lose this years pick in a loaded draft if they bottom out, not really sure how 2024 draft would look but unlikely it's as good as 2023. The Rangers cut their losses on another 1st round pick, but just like with Lias get a return.

Lundkvist is probably right about where Vilardi would have been value wise had the Kings moved on last year, maybe a pinch more, but close. That age 22 to 23 season is a big change in trade value for young players, had Lundkvist been with the Rangers and struggled his value would have cratered.

the big thing for me is how much the rangers got for a guy who asked out, and wanted to be held out.

Apparently Tim Stutzle was traded to New Jersey sometime in the off-season.

As far as the list, Vatrano to Anaheim was a sneaky strong move. Was kind of buried in Florida but played really well for the NYR and will get a lot of run for the Ducks.

Caufield was insane after the coaching change. Not a perfect player, but not many in the league can match his offensive skill-set.

Also nice to see Tomasino included on this list, I think he could be a 50 point player this season, he was a bit unlucky he didn't score more goals last year, and will have an increased role.

I still don't buy the Lafreniere hype, he will improve but idk if he returns the type of value you would expect from a #1 overall. Although in fairness that really isn't what the article is discussing.

No Boldy on that list?

Also, I think the Sabres have a lot of potential breakout candidates. People are sleeping on that team. I don't think they're going to be great, but they're going to be a lot better than people think.

Why wouldn't we just re-sign Kopitar for one more season at $10 million. He has been stellar as our 1C.
Except he's only getting paid $7 million this year and next, and will command less.

And either you know all that already and continue to try derailing the thread off topic or you really are that obtuse.

Should Colorado trade MacKinnon while his value is high?

I.E.
I mean if you're not going to pay MacKinnon, who ARE you going to pay? Whatever him and Makar sign will be worth the price of admission for years to come no matter what happens around them.

Yeah it starts the clock ticking on their window but there's not really a reasonable alternative.

nah they should have trade him LOL
If their Cup window was definitively over after multiple wins, they had zero prospects or picks, were capped out, their entire real leadership group had left, and every other core player was already in their late 20s or older...

And MacKinnon was actually the quality of Landeskog, then yeah, you trade Landeskog instead of signing him into his late 30s.

Joe Sakic should trade him for an emerging star center, like Nolan Patrick, or Cody Glass, or Casey Mittelstadt.

Sakic already got out of Dodge.

They did sign Landeskog into his later 30's.

Landeskog - 0.77 Career PPG winger, 0 Selkes

Kopitar - 0.88 Career PPG center, 2 Selkes

Not comparable players.
