Lets just get rid of offsides...who cares if a team cherry picks or how the enter the zone. If the goal is more offense why has this not been tried? Would open shit up.
No kidding. He was spot on saying you still need to play defence, especially calling out the Avs player who thought it was a good idea to jump into the play up 7-3 and it burned them. The Oilers weren't that far off from tying it in the final minute.
I read last night that there have only been 19 NHL playoff games in history where each team had more than 6 goals...the Oilers have been in 2 this year.Shades of round 2:
Oilers 6
Flames 9
IMO he's right.
The whole thing was a complete overreaction to an absurd Duchene offsides play; most of these things are pulling a goal back over inches tthat don't actually affect the play. The linesmen are by and large awesome, just let it be.

If possession rules don't apply then Makar is attempting to play a loose puck because he isn't touching it and possession allows for control without contact.

I'd rather them get rid of offsides than get rid of offsides reviews.
Just like how costly it was for the Kings to have a goal scored against them when the puck clearly hit the net.
Get it right, or make it a non-issue by eliminating the rule.
I have yet to hear a reasonable debate for keeping offsides. Only thing I can think of is team with possession may constantly take the puck out of the zone to keep possession like in 3 on 3......you know what I just killed my own thought.

I 100% agree with this. If we need 4K cameras at all angles of the ice to determine if the puck was offside, the whole f***ing thing is moot. At this point, we'd be better off putting sensors inside the puck and having offsides be determined programmatically. The interpretations of the rules are as varied as the calls themselves.while i totally agree, it has never ever ever been called like that
are we gonna start reviewing to see if the puck is actually a millimeter off the tape instead of touching it now? this review shit has totally lost the plot
When the Great One speaks, you listen.
I think its because delayed offside are usually initiated by a different player throwing the puck in the zone like from the redline than someone carrying it in and pushing it forward.. it threw me off when i first saw it - i had to think about it before it clicked.I was gonna say this is how I've understood the rule since I was a teenager 25 years ago...did it change along the way somewhere?
I can't count how many times i lightly pushed the puck into the zone and let it float until my guy touched up then went after it so I don't understand what I'm missing here other than an opportunity for Edmonton media to prove the world is out to get them
Maybe it's jsut that people don't do it as much anymore since standing up at the line is so popular?
Yea they gave them the last two seasons to learn and make mistakes and kept them in the lineup. Now they are reaping the rewards. But hey Kopi won the Messier award for starting youth hockey leagues around the world. The kids need to learn off the ice here.nice to see a coach playing his kids unlike our buffoon of a coach
Enlarging the tip under a microscope? Have you been talking to my wife?Amen.
Moreover, a fantastic, hard-working goal could be like 2-3 minutes later in a shift and we are going back to the very beginning of the zone pressure to enlarge the tip of a blade under the microscope? I thought the NHL was trying to increase scoring...
