I definitely think that no goal was a tough call to make. The puck was already going in but you would be silly to think that he didn’t extend that leg to help the puck over the line. Just my two cents.

McDavid is just so f***ing good. Even his quiet nights are his best nights.

Also both of those goalies are pretty bad. Smith just has Connor on his team.

Gotta give some props to Holland, people were ripping him for his moves this offseason, but the Oilers are in the conference finals.

You can turn your skate to redirect. But they've been all over the board on kicked pucks all season. It's fitting. But the real story is Markstrom couldn't keep the Oilers from scoring at least 5.
I was telling my buddy a couplle weeks ago, the difference between Kings Sutter VS Flames Sutter, is Jonathan Quick. End of story.

I think the Kings would have faired pretty well against the Flames in this series.

Each game between LA and Calgary this year was a 3-2 game. Petersen started every game.

It’s rather uncharacteristic to see a Sutter team with awful defense and playing soft hockey. A Todd McLellan coached team with less firepower showed more emotion and put up more of a fight, but I don’t expect many to acknowledge that fact.
I think the main difference is that Calgary was a one line team and the Kings were a no line team.

McDavid crushes whatever line he is up against for the most part. They played him against Calgary's top line so they smashed. The Kings? Danault and Kopitar lines aren't high flying but they are defense first. Easy matchup against that Calgary line.

Markstrom obviously a paper tiger. Ancient Quick is still the better playoff performer.

This doesn't mean they Kings are close. It just reinforces that they grinded points out this year and that is commendable. Need a lot more skill still.

The bummer after watching that is, if the Kings were healthy would they be playing in the WCF? Oh what ifs, McDavid is looking to be on a mission. He and Drai 26 points in 12 games is nuts.

Not the NHL, but a nice performance in the World's today by the US, taking out the Swiss. Two goals from Myers, puck probably traveled less than 5 feet combined. Finns in the semi's next.

Kings did better against the Oilers than the Flames. Hopefully the Sutter dick riders have stopped in their tracks.

Colorado has 2nd round yips... they keep getting knocked out early every year - their fan base sound like the Leafs these days. I hope they get over their mental hump because I really want to see the Coil v Avs

The Oilers averaged 5 goals per game against Sutter’s Flames in 5 games. Even with the blowout wins in the first round, the Kings held them to an average of 3.8 goals per game, sans Doughty.

Goal scoring was and has been a big problem for this team, and clearly they can’t go blow to blow against the heavyweights of this league, but I see that admitting that a Todd McLellan coached team put up a bigger fight than a Darryl Sutter coached team is a difficult reality for some fans to accept.

I think you nailed it. Even at his age today, if Quick is playing for Calgary in that series instead of Markstrom, the Oilers would have been sent packing.

Calgary's power play was somehow worse than the Kings during the playoffs, operating at a rate of 12.2%. Their PK was considerably better than the Kings and their pathetic 63.2% penalty killing unit.

The Oilers also walked all over Calgary in four straight games after they got embarrassed in Game 1. They came back from multi-goal deficits as well. Similar to what we witnessed in round one, the Flames couldn't match up against Edmonton's top players.
