Anze Kopitar has more goals than the Montreal Canadiens.

Honestly I was ambivalent about the franchise until late last year--I enjoyed that run for Toffoli and Evans and some of the other kids, but the moment they started motherf***ing Turcotte (riding CC's coattails, etc.) and spent all summer trashing Danault, including all the cleanup I had to do over here since most of the visitors don't understand 'home turf', I'm loving every minute of this.

Big kick in the nuts tonight for hab fans with Jesperi also scoring. Kings didn't lose so overall great night.

Zegras and Caufield already have the Calder rapped up between them remember. Go read the Caufield thread it's pretty funny now.

The Habs were slight underdogs on the betting lines and failed to cover the spread.

They’ve got Detroit next on Saturday night. Right now the odds are 2-1 in Montreal’s favor. That might be a nice opportunity to win some money by betting on Detroit.

The odds makers aren’t feeling good about the kings tomorrow against Dallas. Kings are being given 30% odds to win and are +130 on the money line.

So I'm watching Sportscenter....no signs of NHL anywhere. I thought that was part of the hype with this ESPN deal?

So the universally accepted, absolute lock, shoe in, no brainer for the Calder trophy is pointless and not living up to the hype?
For the moment yes but there is plenty of games in this 82 games schedule. The whole team sucks, I think a lot of players are choking under the pressure. The D sucks a lot and so is the centerline.

Almost nobody on Habs forum point the Danault gone for the 0-5 start of the season. Yes there are many other players gone but Danault comes last in the explanation. The only thing they say about Danault is "he wanted to leave" and I answer yes he did it for a good reason, after reading all the negative you wrote on this forum about him, he did the right choice. Now he plays in a place where he is appreciated.

He's also goalless (yes, he has 2 assists) and -2. Being a -2 on a team that is 3-0 is not something to promote (esp when one of those games was 5-0).

There are five guys who all have a -2 on that team and everyone else, except one, is even or a plus, so odds are those five play together a lot. Plus/minus is a terrible stat to base anything on, one guy playing like crap gives everyone a minus.

Flames fans were pumped about Sutter day 1 of hire. By day 4 they were saying he is a dinosaur and won't play the youth. I like to point out to flames fans that Daryl's faith in Voynov is why they dealt JMFJ for Carter. Sutter played rookieyoung players in King and Nolan on route to cup 1, and then Toffoli and Pearson for cup 2.

Flames fans annoy me, I think because I am surrounded.

Just FYI, last night Darryl Sutter played Kylington on our top 4 in that same sort of Voynov situation, and considering Mangiapane has been our best winger outside of Gaudreau, that effectly makes Dillon Dube's young line our so-called 2nd line. Last year Sutter was a bit guilty of not playing guys optimally (Bennett, Kylington, Dube were the three underutilized guys) but I'd chalk that up to not having a preseason.

D.Sutter's an awesome coach, and that one Flames fan who keeps calling him a dinosaur doesn't really understand the nuances, I'd appreciate not being lumped in with him. I'm definitely still pumped about the hiring, and seeing Kylington in a top 4 role for the first time ever in four seasons when he's been that calibre of player for four seasons was a breath of fresh air in last night's win.

Anyways cheers.

Oh I hear you and agree about +/-. I'm just pointing out the obvious -- SJ is not winning games because of Eklund. Same thing about AK34 and our win opening night.

Ice Breakers: NHL Debating Covid-19 Testing Requirements For Asymptomatic Players - Daily Faceoff

The idea behind potentially removing the testing requirement for asymptomatic individuals is in one part because their risk of serious illness is significant lowered by virtue of the vaccine, but also the logistics involved in testing. It often takes upwards of 16-24 hours for teams to receive lab-based PCR test results.

The current NHL COVID-19 protocol calls for vaccinated individuals to be tested at least once every 72 hours. That means an asymptomatic person may already have had the ability to spread the virus for a couple days to those around him before even showing up as a positive test.

The other side of the argument, with perspective on the overall health and safety of players, is that science still might not know enough about long-term health effects even for asymptomatic players. Some studies have indicated lung and/or heart damage can occur in the absence of symptoms. The NHL must also keep in mind the health and safety of player and staff family members, as well.
